Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Engineer role based in Chicago, IL. The Engineer will support the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of hotel facilities, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces. Typical responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems; responding promptly to guest and team member maintenance requests; and completing basic repairs on equipment, fixtures, and furnishings. The Engineer will conduct regular inspections to identify safety or maintenance concerns, document work performed, and follow company standards and local regulations. This role works closely with the engineering and operations teams to help ensure a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for guests and colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with basic building maintenance, including minor repairs to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Ability to perform routine preventive maintenance and use common tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose issues and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to interact professionally with guests, vendors, and colleagues.
  • Basic understanding of safety procedures, building codes, and regulatory requirements relevant to hotel operations.
  • Ability to work on-site in Chicago, IL, including availability for shifts that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical, vocational, or trade school training in building systems or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous maintenance or engineering experience in a hotel, resort, or similar facility is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to lift and move moderate weights, stand and walk for extended periods, and perform tasks that may require bending, reaching, or climbing ladders.
