Job Summary
The
Maintenance Carpenter
is responsible for performing skilled carpentry work to maintain, repair, and improve resort buildings, guest accommodations, public spaces, and back-of-house facilities. This role supports a safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment that enhances the overall guest and team member experience. Success in this position is demonstrated through high-quality craftsmanship, timely completion of work orders, preventative maintenance, and effective collaboration with other departments. The Carpenter plays a key role in preserving the appearance and operational excellence of the resort while exemplifying the Tides Inn Mission and Values.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this role.
- Exemplifies the Tides Inn Mission and Values in all interactions with guests, team members, and vendors.
- Performs skilled carpentry repairs, maintenance, and construction projects throughout the resort.
- Installs, repairs, and replaces doors, windows, trim, cabinetry, flooring, drywall, framing, decking, and other structural or finish carpentry components.
- Repairs and maintains guest room furnishings, fixtures, and built-in furniture to luxury hospitality standards.
- Responds promptly to maintenance requests and work orders while minimizing disruption to guests and resort operations.
- Performs preventative maintenance inspections to identify repair needs before they impact operations.
- Measures, cuts, shapes, assembles, and installs building materials using hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Repairs walls, ceilings, flooring, millwork, and other interior and exterior building components.
- Assists with renovation projects, room refreshes, and capital improvement initiatives.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, technical drawings, and work specifications as needed.
- Maintains compliance with all safety regulations, building codes, and company policies.
- Operates and maintains tools and equipment in a safe and organized manner.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and secure work area.
- Assists other Facilities team members with general maintenance tasks when operational needs require.
- Communicates project status, repair needs, and material requirements to Facilities leadership.
- Orders or recommends materials and supplies needed for assigned projects.
- Participates in emergency response efforts related to facility operations, severe weather, or other property emergencies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; minimum 3 years of professional carpentry experience required.
- Hospitality, resort, hotel, commercial, or residential maintenance experience preferred.
- Experience with finish carpentry, cabinetry, drywall, framing, and general building maintenance preferred.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, construction methods, and building materials.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and woodworking equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
- Technical or vocational training in carpentry or construction preferred.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
- Must meet company Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) standards if operating company vehicles or golf carts
Physical Requirements
- Work Environment: Indoor and outdoor resort environment; guest rooms, public spaces, maintenance shops, construction areas; exposure to varying weather, dust, noise, and maintenance-related hazards.
- Equipment Used: Hand and power tools, saws, drills, ladders, scaffolding, golf carts, utility vehicles, computer/tablet, mobile phone, two-way radio.

- Lifting: Up to 75 pounds (with assistance or mechanical aids when appropriate).

- Travel Expectations: May require travel to local stores for supplies or business needs.
- Driving Requirements: Operation of golf carts, company, and utility vehicles required; MVR monitoring may be required.
- Other: Must be able to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and emergency call-ins; climb ladders, work at heights, and perform work in confined spaces as needed.
