If you're an experienced Lab Pack Chemist who enjoys variety, travel, and hands-on environmental work, this is an exciting opportunity to apply your expertise across multiple customer locations. As a National Field Chemist, you'll provide critical support at sites experiencing staffing shortages, increased workloads, or special project demands while helping ensure hazardous waste is managed safely and compliantly. This role requires

significant weekly travel

, adaptability to different client environments, and strong communication skills to maintain consistent service quality across all locations.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Identify, segregate, consolidate, package, and prepare hazardous waste for shipment in compliance with DOT, EPA, and company standards
  • Travel to client sites to provide temporary chemist coverage and operational support as needed, often with short notice.
  • Adapt quickly to different site environments, waste streams, procedures, and customer expectations
  • Build strong relationships with client contacts and internal teams to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Consolidate chemicals from labs and generating departments following proper compatibility and segregation guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate labeling, shipping documentation, and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Ensure all containers are properly labeled with required DOT/EPA/TSD information.
  • Understand and apply site‑specific disposal restrictions and special packaging requirements.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of PPE, labels, shipping documents, and other operational supplies while traveling.
  • Follow all Environmental, Health, and Safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to promote a safe work environment.
  • Support additional sites as needed for emergency coverage, special projects, or operational surges.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related scientific field (or equivalent relevant experience)
  • 2\+ years of experience or internship experience in lab packing, chemical stabilization, hazardous waste management, or regulatory compliance
  • Experience with waste management processes such as waste collection, satellite accumulation area management, 90‑day storage area management, waste profiling, chemical segregation, and waste disposal technologies is preferred
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 100% of the time, Monday–Friday
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a CDL-B within 6–12 months of hire (company-paid training provided)
  • Ability to wear a full-face respirator and work safely in industrial and laboratory environments
  • Strong customer services and communication skills and the ability to adapt to changing client needs and work environments
