Job Description

Our client, Metro Schools, seeks a

Chief Executive Officer/Executive Director (CEO/ED)

who will lead across academic, operational, financial, and external-facing functions, ensuring alignment between organizational strategy, school performance, and long-term sustainability. This leader will serve as the primary spokesperson for Metro Schools and will build strong partnerships with higher education institutions, industry leaders, policymakers, and the broader community.

Established in 2006, Metro Early College High School was born out of the desire of both The Ohio State University and Battelle to create a “small” STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) school with a “big footprint.” Metro is a platform school for The Ohio STEM Learning Network (OSLN) and was the first higher education (The Ohio State University), business (Battelle ), and K-12 partnership for STEM learning in Ohio.

The next CEO/ED will inherit a high-performing, mission-driven organization with strong momentum and deep community partnerships and will lead Metro through its next phase of growth, including expanding the elementary school to achieve enrollment targets, strengthening internal systems, scaling impact, and sustaining its innovative edge.

The CEO/ED will be expected to focus on the following key priorities in their first year:

  • Sustain Metro’s reputation as a national model for STEM education and strong academic outcomes through aligned curriculum, instructional strategy, and data-driven accountability systems.
  • Embrace innovation and implement new initiatives to prepare students for future education and workforce needs.
  • Maintain financial sustainability through effective budgeting, financial management, and resource development. Address budget shortfalls, meet growth targets, and continue to increase enrollment.
  • Strengthen and expand community partnerships with The Ohio State University, Battelle, philanthropic stakeholders, STEM industry partners, and state lawmakers.
  • Build, develop, and empower a high-performing leadership team with clear roles and responsibilities.
  • Streamline and improve organizational systems and communication.
  • Lead the organization through a new multi-year strategic planning process that clearly defines success and expected outcomes for the next 3-5 years.
