Director of Engineering
LOCATION: London (Multisite) Relocation Provided

MISSION
Serve as the custodian of the fleet’s operational integrity and aesthetic prestige. The primary purpose of this role is to bridge the gap between heavy-duty engineering excellence and high-end customer experience.
By leading a transformative modernisation program, the Director ensures that every vessel is not only technically superior and compliant with rigorous maritime safety standards but also meticulously presented to reflect the company’s premium brand. This role is the driving force behind a Safety First, Reliability Always culture, ensuring the fleet remains the most dependable and visually impressive in the region.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safety \& Compliance:
Accountable for the safety of the EVA teams and contractors at home ports, dry-dock facilities, and remote sites.
- Fleet Reliability \& Appearance:
Oversees fleet maintenance and presentation, ensuring vessels are safe, clean, and fit for service.
- Technical Development:
Drives the technical development of new and existing vessels and engineering supply chain requirements.
- Financial Management:
Prepares and manages the annual budget (circa £10M) and submits business cases for capital expenditure.
- Operational Excellence:
Leads the team using LEAN principles to create a culture focused on safety, technical excellence, and efficiency.
- Asset Management:
Manages the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) to track vessel lifecycles, critical spares, and strategic equipment.
- Strategic Workforce Planning:
Directs the workforce plan to meet growth, including succession planning and the Engineering Apprentice Program.
REQUIREMENTS
- Technical Background:
Extensive technical knowledge, ideally with a background in transport or maritime engineering.
- Leadership:
Experienced people leader managing at least 20 people, preferably across multiple sites.
- Regulatory Expertise:
Proven experience operating within highly regulated environments.
- Financial Acumen:
Expert budget management experience
- Project Delivery:
Strong track record of delivering complex projects on time and on budget.
