Key Responsibilities:
Design \& Ship AI Solutions
- Design, build, and deploy AI-powered tools, agents, and workflows using Azure OpenAI, OpenAI / Anthropic APIs, Microsoft Copilot Studio, and similar platforms.
- Architect retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) solutions for internal knowledge access, decision support, and document-heavy workflows.
- Build, test, and maintain production-grade prompts, agents, and AI pipelines with proper version control, evaluation, and observability.
- Ship within 30–60 days of start — early wins matter, and the technical landscape is ready for you.
Build Automations \& Integrations
- Design and deploy automation workflows using Microsoft Power Automate, Power Apps, Logic Apps, and PowerShell.
- Architect integrations between line-of-business systems — NetSuite, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Asana, and others — to eliminate manual work and improve data flow.
- Identify high-value automation opportunities across NPE and Food Story Brands and propose pragmatic solutions you can actually deliver.
Partner with the Business
- Conduct discovery sessions with operational stakeholders to translate business problems into well-scoped technical solutions.
- Translate ambiguous business needs into shipped solutions; push back constructively when requirements need refinement.
- Train end users, write clear documentation, and drive adoption so the solutions you build actually get used.
- Measure and document impact — time saved, errors reduced, revenue enabled — and feed that data back to the Director of IT.
Architectural \& Technical Leadership
- Partner with the Director of IT on architecture decisions, vendor evaluation, and build vs. buy recommendations.
- Define technical patterns, standards, and reusable components that future AI solutions across NPE will build on.
- Stay current on the rapidly evolving AI landscape and bring useful innovations back to the organization.
- Embed security and responsible AI practices into every solution from day one — data handling, prompt review, access control, audit logging.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field — or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- 5–7 years of professional experience in software engineering, solutions engineering, automation engineering, or a closely related technical role.
- 2\+ years of hands-on experience designing and shipping AI / LLM solutions in a production business environment.
- Demonstrated production experience with Azure OpenAI, OpenAI API, Anthropic API, Microsoft Copilot Studio, or comparable AI platforms.
- Strong programming skills in Python (preferred) plus working knowledge of at least one additional language (JavaScript / TypeScript, C#, or PowerShell).
- Deep working knowledge of API integration, authentication patterns (OAuth, service principals, managed identities), and modern data formats (JSON, REST, webhooks).
- Production experience with the Microsoft 365 / Azure ecosystem and Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Logic Apps).
- Working knowledge of RAG, vector databases, prompt engineering, and modern agent patterns.
- Proven ability to translate ambiguous business problems into shipped solutions independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
