Role Description
The Infection Control Nurse is responsible for implementing and monitoring infection prevention and control (IPC) programs within the healthcare facility. The role includes conducting infection surveillance, monitoring healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), performing audits on hand hygiene and sanitation practices, and ensuring compliance with DOH and hospital infection control standards. The Infection Control Nurse also investigates infection outbreaks, prepares reports and documentation, conducts staff training and orientation on IPC practices, and assists in developing and updating infection control policies and procedures to promote patient and staff safety.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) graduate
- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid PRC license
- At least 2-3 years of hospital or bedside clinical experience
- Training in Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) preferred
- Knowledge of DOH infection control standards and protocols
- Skilled in surveillance, auditing, reporting, and staff education
- ICU, ER, OR, or critical care experience is an advantage
- Additional training from RITM, PHICNA, or PHICS is preferred
- Ability to implement infection control policies and monitor compliance
