Job Description
We are looking for a Product-Driven Business Analyst (BA) who looks beyond just "gathering requirements" to truly understand the why behind what we build. In this role, you won’t just manage a backlog; you will act as a critical bridge between strategy and execution, transforming customer problems into scalable product features.
You possess a product mindset, meaning you prioritize user impact, value delivery, and data over rigid checklists. Working side-by-side with Product Managers, Engineers, and UX designers, you will help define the product vision, validate assumptions, and ensure our development team is always building the highest-leverage solutions.
What you’ll do
- Translate Vision into Action: Own the translation of high-level product strategy and roadmaps into crisp, actionable user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical specifications.
- Focus on Outcomes over Outputs: Analyze complex workflows and user data to ensure the features we build solve real user pain points and drive core business metrics.
- Bridge the Gap: Act as the day-to-day partner for the engineering team, clarifying scope, triaging trade-offs, and ensuring alignment with the overarching product goals.
- Data-Driven Prioritization: Use quantitative metrics and qualitative feedback to help prioritize the backlog, balancing quick wins with long-term strategic initiatives.
- The Product Mindset: You don’t just ask "What do you want built?" You ask "What problem are we trying to solve, and how will we measure success?"
- Agile Fluent: Deep experience working in fast-paced Agile/Scrum environments, with a strong mastery of writing user stories, behavior-driven development (BDD), and mapping user journeys.
- Systems Thinker: Ability to see how individual features impact the broader ecosystem, ensuring technical scalability and a seamless user experience.
Key Responsibilities
Requirement Gathering
- Engage with stakeholders to gather business needs, pain points, and expectations.
Documentation
- Prepare user stories, functional requirements, process flows, and acceptance criteria.
Stakeholder Communication
- Act as the link between business users, project teams, and technical teams.
Process Analysis
- Analyse current processes and propose improved future-state processes.
Acceptance Criteria
- Define clear acceptance criteria for each requirement or user story.
Clarifications
- Provide clarification on business rules, requirements, and expected outcomes.
Testing Support
- Support UAT by guiding users and confirming business expectations.
Defect Management
- Assess business impact of defects and support prioritisation.
Change Requests
- Analyse change requests and assess impact on scope, process, and users.
User Acceptance Testing
- Coordinate with users for UAT and support sign-off.
Release Readiness
- Confirm that business requirements and user expectations are met.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve business processes and requirement quality.
Cross-Functional Awareness
- Understand QA principles to write clear, complete, and testable requirements.
Nice to Have (QA Knowledge / Exposure)
The following are not mandatory but would be considered a strong advantage, as they reflect an understanding of the Quality Assurance side of the software delivery lifecycle:
- Understanding how to validate that the system meets requirements and works correctly.
- Ability to review requirements to understand testing scope and expected system behaviour.
- Familiarity with preparing test scenarios, test cases, test scripts, and test evidence.
- Experience communicating testing progress, defects, risks, and quality status.
- Exposure to validating end-to-end business processes through testing.
- Ability to use acceptance criteria to design and execute test cases.
- Comfort raising questions or gaps found during test preparation or execution.
- Experience executing functional, regression, integration, or UAT support testing.
- Knowledge of logging defects, providing evidence, retesting fixes, and tracking defects to closure.
- Ability to assess testing impact and update test cases or regression scope accordingly.
- Experience supporting UAT execution and assisting users in reporting defects.
- Ability to confirm test completion, defect status, and quality risks before release.
- Interest in improving test coverage, testing practices, automation, and quality controls.
- Understanding of BA activities to better interpret requirements, business rules, and user expectations.
