Job Description

Company Description

Te Tākinatanga \| Our Story

At Contact, we believe home is the most important place in the world. That belief shapes everything we do, from leading the energy transition to how we power Aotearoa and care for our people and communities.

We’re a power, broadband, and mobile company, but we’re also investing boldly in renewable energy and smarter, more connected ways of working (mahi). Our ambition is simple: to leave Aotearoa better than we found it.

Guided by our values \& behaviours, we’re a team who care deeply about the work we do, how we support one another, and the impact we have. Simply put, we touch lives to make life better.

As we embark on our next five-year strategy, we're investing in how we work just as much as what we deliver. A key part of that is our Enterprise Productivity programme — an organisation-wide effort focused on helping our people do their best work through smarter processes, better use of data, and unlocking the potential of AI. This role sits at the heart of that journey.

As Product Owner for our Corporate Domain, you'll partner with teams across People Experience, Finance, Corporate Affairs, Procurement and beyond to identify opportunities, prioritise investment, and turn ambitious ideas into meaningful outcomes. You'll help connect business strategy with technology delivery, ensuring we're focusing our energy on the work that creates the greatest value for Contact.

Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi \| The Opportunity

This is not a traditional Product Owner role focused on a single platform or product.

Instead, you'll operate across a broad and diverse portfolio, working with stakeholders throughout the Corporate Domain to identify opportunities, align priorities, and ensure technology investment is directed toward the outcomes that matter most.

You’ll also:

In this role, you'll:

  • Own the prioritisation of work across a portfolio of productivity, data and business improvement initiatives
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to define problems worth solving and align teams around shared outcomes
  • Influence investment, governance and prioritisation decisions by connecting business value to delivery opportunities
  • Guide initiatives from discovery through to delivery, ensuring focus remains on measurable business outcomes
  • Bring together diverse perspectives across Technology and Corporate functions to make informed, pragmatic decisions
  • Help shape how Contact leverages data, AI and emerging technologies to improve how we work
  • Work closely with architects, analysts, designers, delivery teams and business leaders to translate strategy into action
  • Navigate complexity, competing priorities and organisational change while maintaining a relentless focus on value delivery

You'll join a collaborative team, where fresh thinking, open kōrero and continuous learning are encouraged. You'll have the opportunity to influence work across Contact and play a visible role in shaping the future here.

\| About You

You're someone who enjoys bringing clarity to complexity.

You know how to work across different groups, build trust quickly, and help people move toward a shared outcome. You're commercially minded, naturally curious, and able to balance strategic thinking with practical delivery. You understand that great Product Ownership isn't about owning all the answers, it's about asking the right questions, bringing people together, and helping teams focus on what's most valuable.

Here’s what we’re ideally looking for:

  • Experience identifying, prioritising and delivering high-value work in a complex environment
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to work across multiple business groups
  • Experience leading or partnering with squads, delivery teams or cross-functional initiatives
  • The ability to translate strategic objectives into clear priorities and actionable outcomes
  • Strong commercial thinking and a focus on delivering measurable business value
  • Confidence navigating ambiguity, competing priorities and organisational change
  • Experience working in Agile or Lean environments
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to engage people at all levels of the organisation

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience working with corporate functions such as Finance, People Experience, Legal, Procurement or Corporate Affairs
  • Exposure to enterprise productivity, transformation, continuous improvement, data or AI-enabled initiatives
  • Experience within larger, matrixed organisations
  • Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Miro, SharePoint or similar collaboration platforms

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who can see the bigger picture, build strong relationships, and help others focus on what matters most. If you don't meet every requirement but believe your experience could bring value to this mahi, we'd still love to hear from you.
