Job Summary
The Sound Technician is responsible for all sound aspects through audio devices for Centenary Methodist Church.
In collaboration with the Senior Pastor, Worship and Music Director, and Worship Director the Sound Technician ensures that all sound equipment is on and fully functioning during all worship services and special events. The Sound Technician should lead efforts to achieve the purpose of being the church that changes hearts through the love of Jesus, through expanding our reach in various initiatives in ensuring our audio services are excellent.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations
In close collaboration with the Senior Pastor, Worship and Music Director, and Worship Director the Sound Technician will oversee all audio operations. The role of this position is to create, maintain and support the vision of Centenary Methodist Church by building a foundation of worshiping, walking and welcoming all to glorify God and serve our community. Areas of collaborative effort would be for example:
● Responsible for running all audio needs for worship services and special events at Centenary Methodist Church.
● Facilitates all aspects of sound - digital boards, live streaming, recording for podcasts, worship services and special events.
● Ensure all sound equipment is on and functioning before the worship team arrives.
● Controls the sound mix for both the house and stage/ in-ear monitors.
● Makes the service’s sound as unnoticeable as possible so that the focus is on Jesus.
● Oversees all audio equipment; including but not limited to performing microphone and battery checks on every wireless mic before service begins, and wired mics are plugged in ready to go.
● Confirms worship and special event programs so that volume levels can be customized for individuals.
● Verify that pre and post service music has been selected.
● Work within established budgets to achieve the objectives of the audio/visual programming.
● Organizes all audio equipment in orderly fashion.
● Provide all communication for upcoming events within the notice period determined by Centenary staff.
● Plays a vital part of the church staff team attending staff meetings and encouraging and supporting the overall mission of the church.
● Attending continuing education events as approved to enhance and improve job skills.
● Assist the Pastor with other ministry projects as needed.
● Assists the Pastor with ensuring funeral services are supported as needed. Compensation for this will be handled through an honorarium at the discretion of the family.
● Actively participates in church and church events.
● Offer suggestions and observations which would improve Centenary’s audio/visual program.
● Assume such other duties as may be assigned by the pastor.

● Must have leadership qualities to attract, train and lead volunteer and/or employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
● Be committed to learning new skills that relate to this job. Study and work to stay current and ahead of the curve on various ministry initiatives for worship and church environments.
● Passion for communicating a clear message and skill with methods of communication—verbal, written, and electronic.
● Ability to listen to and communicate with people of all ages.
● Show genuine interest in responding to the hopes and concerns of people in the community.
● Perform duties and responsibilities in a manner to glorify Christ and further the mission and ministry purposes of the church.
● Reliable, punctual, with an attitude of responsiveness and flexibility.
● As this role is essential to services in the sanctuary, on-time attendance and preparation are mandatory, i.e., can’t be late and no-show is unacceptable. In the event that absence is unavoidable, early notice must be provided to the Senior Pastor and Worship and Music Director, and a capable sub must be arranged.

Qualifications/Requirements
● Has a good ear for music/audio quality.
● Technical expertise related to running sound and Centenary’s new system.
● Ability to pay attention to service cues while also being alert to any audio issues that might suddenly arise.
● Strong leadership and communication skills.
● Proficiency with audio programs and tools.
Pay: From $20\.00 per hour
