About the job:

Kent is seeking an

Operations Director - Engineering

to join our growing engineering Team within the Oil \& Gas market in

Khobar, Saudi Arabia

. This is a pivotal opportunity to help shape a new and expanding team, strengthen our technical capability, and enhance Kent’s presence and reputation across the sector.

Details / responsibilities:

  • Monitor and overall manage project management and engineering teams for engineering delivery and ensure appropriate engineering standard and integrity of the work within the specified contracted scope, HSSE and Quality standards and within Budget and Schedule.
  • Overall Business Planning and lookahead scenario analysis to manage resource allocation and recruitment to deliver required portfolio of engineering projects year upon year
  • Monitor and manage overheads within budget and deliver revenue and gross margin targets for Engineering in line with the business plan
  • Lead a team of multiple discipline design engineers and draughtsman in the proper execution of engineering related activities for various projects, supported by the Engineering Director who is directly responsible for the Engineering Departments and day to day quality of engineering
  • Further develop the current team in order to cater to Engineering Studies, Pre-FEED, FEED and Detailed Design capabilities for various projects in the future in line with agreed strategies for the business
  • Develop and input to win strategies for tenders, work with proposals and business development and take responsibility for engineering teams providing key input including engineering assessment of scope, assumptions, development of execution plans, deliverables, estimation of engineering hours and responding to client technical clarifications and queries to our tenders.
  • Pre-award activities such as preliminary design, preparation of tender drawings and material take-offs, cost estimation of material, plant \& preliminaries, collaborating with commercial / procurement in preparation of quotation, material sourcing \& vendor development
  • Manage any design issues with sub-contractors and ensure compliance with the client design requirements
  • Engage, mentor, support and motivate local staff in their development and integration into the positive values and culture within the group
  • Provide opportunities and guidance that enable the transfer of learning into effective practice for local staff and their managers
  • Assess the skills, values and knowledge of new and current staff against the standards that apply to their role in order to devise individual, sector and service development plans
  • Provide learning opportunities related to the assessed needs of staff including induction and induction mentorship and continuing development opportunities, regularly reviewing and evaluating their experiences over their employment journey

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

  • Demonstrated extensive experience in working in an oil and gas company in a senior managerial role
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in engineering, project/ construction management or related discipline
  • Minimum 12 years of work experience in the engineering team and or engineering manager role in oil and gas industry
  • Must have worked as an Engineering Manager in a large EPC company or on EPC projects
  • Must be capable of leading multiple disciplines and effectively interface with all disciplines in house and with those of the client
  • Must have excellent design related skills in terms of interpreting designs and to help the design team produce working or production drawings effectively
  • Fully conversant with international engineering codes as well as those typically used in KSA

Communication:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong client engagement skills focused on clarity and technical assurance.
  • Able to lead teams and establish clear communication routines.
