General Description

The Associate Director of ERP Development provides strategic and technical leadership for the design, development, and maintenance of the institution’s custom development ecosystem, centered around the ERP. This position oversees custom development, integrations, cloud ERP extensions, and modernization initiatives to ensure systems meet evolving academic, administrative, and regulatory needs, and translate those needs into achievable technical scope. This role manages a team of developers, and provides mentorship to developers in multiple languages to ensure they meet internal timelines, compliance, and professional development goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage custom development within and alongside our ERP environment, including customizations, configurations, API integrations, data pipelines, and modernization across various on-prem and cloud environments.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate developers, ensuring high‑quality output and adherence to development standards.
  • Oversee the technical design, development, testing, and deployment of ERP enhancements across modules (e.g., Student, HR, Finance).
  • Maintain awareness of upcoming quarterly updates delivered by Oracle to the Oracle Cloud HCM and ERP platforms
  • Partner with functional stakeholders to translate business processes into scalable technical solutions within the ERP ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, functional area staff/subject matter experts, and project managers, to ensuring minimal disruption to critical operations in response to Oracle Cloud deployments and updates
  • Govern ERP development lifecycle processes including version control, peer review, testing, release management, and documentation.
  • Ensure security, compliance, auditability, and institutional policy alignment for all customizations and integrations.
  • Provide leadership in planning and executing major upgrades, cloud migrations, and integration modernization.
  • Participate in strategic planning for enterprise systems and contribute to budgeting, staffing, and vendor relationship management.

Minimum Qualifications:

KSAs* Demonstrated ability to provide strategic and technical leadership for large-scale, enterprise ERP ecosystems supporting complex academic and administrative environments, including distributed presentation, application, and database architectures across on‑premises and cloud platforms.

  • Extensive knowledge of ERP technologies, relational databases, and integration patterns, including strong proficiency in SQL and experience with legacy and modern development languages and tools such as COBOL, Java, JavaScript, XML, and related middleware and API frameworks.
  • Expertise in ERP integration technologies and methodologies, including APIs, component interfaces, messaging frameworks, integration brokers, and data pipelines to support interoperability with cloud services and external systems.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex performance, scalability, and functional issues related to customizations, delivered ERP functionality, database logic, and legacy integrations.
  • Strong leadership skills in planning, managing, and executing technical initiatives associated with ERP implementations, major upgrades, cloud migrations, and modernization efforts, ensuring alignment with institutional strategy and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor, and evaluate development teams, fostering high-quality engineering practices, adherence to development standards, and ongoing professional growth across multiple programming languages and technologies.
  • Experience partnering with functional and business stakeholders to translate institutional policies and business processes into secure, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions within an ERP ecosystem.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to manage data integrity, resolve data conflicts, and leverage technology to improve service delivery and operational outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions, work independently under pressure, and consistently meet deadlines while managing multiple initiatives and stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts, architectural decisions, and policy implications to technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Strong PC and office productivity skills, supporting effective documentation, communication, planning, and executive-level reporting.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience with current releases of any of the following technologies PeopleTools, PeopleSoft Student Administration System, PeopleSoft Human Resource Management, and PeopleSoft Financial Management applications
  • Technical development experience, including scripting, APIs, data integrations, and/or object‑oriented development.
  • Supervisory experience, including oversight of technical development teams.
  • Experience developing and supporting enterprise integrations using tools such as REST APIs, flat‑file ETL, middleware, or cloud integration platforms.
  • Experience coding in any or all of the following: PS-SQL/T-SQL, Oracle Development Tools, SQR, Java, Java Script, and XML, Python, C-sharp
  • Experience coding in any or all of the following: MSAccess, Visual Basic, Excel Macros

  • Experience designing and developing customizations and integrations within large higher‑education environments.
  • Experience supervising an enterprise IT unit (or related unit) using state of the art equipment and software.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud ERP systems (e.g., PeopleSoft in OCI, Workday, Banner SaaS, or equivalent cloud hosted‑hosted platforms).
  • Ability to translate functional requirements into scalable and secure technical designs.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and functional stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a higher education‑education environment.
  • Experience working at a state, local, or federal government agency
  • Experience with cloud integration platforms (e.g., Boomi, MuleSoft, Integration Cloud).
  • Knowledge of accessibility, compliance, and audit requirements in higher‑education systems
