Job Description

I. Position Summary:

Clinical Specialist will be responsible for implementing the BioProtect Balloon Implant System with physicians who will be using the product. The Clinical Specialist will work with the sales team to educate the medical teams (Radiation Oncologist, Urologist, Physicists, Dosimistrist, Nurses, materials management, purchasing, and other healthcare professionals) who will use the BioProtect Balloon Implant System. The Clinical Specialist will be responsible for safely teaching the preparation and application of the BioProtect Balloon Implant System in the different settings where the product will be used.

The duties and responsibilities will be co-developed between the Chief Commercial Officer and General Manager. The Clinical Specialist will also be a key link in managing the relationships with the key stakeholders in the institutions they are responsible for supporting. The Clinical Specialist will also be asked to expand the product within targeted institutions and help in the selling process to new targeted customers.

II. Principal Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Educate customers how to safely prepare and use the BioProtect Balloon Implant System
  • In-service all the key stake holders on the benefits of the product
  • Seek out all the people within the institution who need to be made aware of the product and how to use it
  • Evaluate the skill level of the people using the BioProtect Balloon Implant System to develop confidence and proficiency
  • Ensure all users are qualified and understand how to prepare and place the product before letting them do procedures on their own without supervision
  • Work with department heads to allow the product to be used as a routine part of treating prostate cancer through radiation modalities
  • Promote relationships between all team members in an institution using the BioProtect Balloon Implant System
  • Help nurses and physicians gain proficiency in the area of product, procedure, anatomy, and troubleshooting the use of the BioProtect Balloon Implant System
  • Maintain contact with all key users to ensure competency and comfort is happening across all team members
  • As directed by the RD of Sales, target new customers to close the sales cycle to begin teaching a new target
  • Report complaints/adverse events to the appropriate BioProtect Personnel

Requirements:

I. Qualification Requirements:

a. Education:

  • Four year undergraduate degree preferred
  • Nursing or Ultrasound Tech background strongly preferred

b. Experience:

  • Five (5) years’ experience in medical field, which could be clinical trial experience, sales, nursing, physics, or other radiation or oncological associate experiences (physician assistant, technical support, etc.) preferred
  • Teaching technical topics would be a benefit for this position

c. Knowledge/Skill:

  • Experience working with physicians and nurses
  • Experience working in the operating room and out-patient area of a hospital
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to direct/redirect physician and nurse behavior
  • Manage people in group setting who are in high-pressure situations
  • Ability to think on ones’ feet and problem solve

II. Working Conditions

a.

  • Domestic travel required
  • Ability to work in stressful conditions
  • Ability to travel and work on weekends
  • Ability to work in sterile/operating room conditions
  • Attend meetings important to expanding the use of the product—workshops, meetings, and conferences

b. Identify important or unusual environmental conditions (i.e. heat, fumes, etc.) if any.

  • Ability to work in a sterile hospital setting and procedure room around medical equipment
