Ashford \& Associates is a well-established, tax-focused CPA firm based in Bend, Oregon. For more than 50 years, we've helped high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, agricultural operations, real estate investors, and closely held businesses navigate complex tax matters.

We're intentionally a boutique firm. We enjoy the variety that comes with serving a diverse client base and the opportunity to build long-term relationships with the people we work with. The work is technical, challenging, and rarely repetitive.

This is a fully remote position. While our home office is in Bend, Oregon, we're open to hiring the right experienced CPA anywhere in the United States. We care far more about finding someone who communicates well, enjoys collaborating with a team, and takes pride in producing excellent work than where they live.

What You'll Be Doing

This role is centered around what many experienced CPAs enjoy—practicing tax.

You'll spend your time:

• Preparing and reviewing complex individual, partnership, S corporation, trust, and estate tax returns.
• Researching and resolving challenging tax issues.
• Working alongside the managing partner on technical tax matters and planning opportunities.
• Reviewing staff work and helping less experienced preparers continue to grow.
• Participating in tax planning and consulting throughout the year.
• Collaborating with teammates through Microsoft Teams, phone, and video meetings to solve problems and keep work moving during busy season.

There will certainly be opportunities to interact directly with clients, but success in this role comes from strong technical skills, sound judgment, and producing consistently high-quality work.

• During tax season, this position typically requires 55–60 hours per week.
• Outside of busy season, schedules are much more flexible.
• We hire experienced professionals and trust them to do great work—we don't believe in micromanagement.

Qualifications

• CPA required.
• 7\+ years of experience preparing and reviewing complex tax returns.
• Strong experience with partnerships and S corporations.
• Experience with high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, and closely held businesses.
• Agricultural tax experience is a plus.
• Tax planning and consulting experience preferred.
• Strong technical research and problem-solving skills.
