Maintenance Technician

We are in search of an individual to join our team in the maintenance area of Mercer Milling. This full-time hourly role is responsible for efficient, safe, and accurate preventative maintenance duties and special projects for our business, a fast-paced environment related to the successful manufacturing of high-quality dairy feed pre-mix. The role reports to the Plant Manager and takes direction from the Maintenance Manager.

Shift:                           7 A.M. – 5:30 P.M., Monday – Friday (5 10’s)

Responsibilities:

·      Perform preventative maintenance: operate and test systems and equipment to ensure ongoing function and reliability.

o  Restore, repair, rebuild and replace faulty or inoperative components and parts.

o  Use CMMS (Fiix Maintenance Management Software) to detail work and record/manage new and used parts.

·      Inspect the overall physical condition of the warehouse, plant and equipment; maintain organization and cleanliness of maintenance area, as well as all operational facilities.

·      Perform grounds maintenance.

·      Strict adherence to Safety Policies and Procedures, following OSHA, FSMA and other government regulations.

·      Shared responsible for positive coaching and training new production team members in proper machine procedures.

·      Occasional

shifts as needed to perform duties with other Maintenance team members. Intermittent work on Thursday and Fridays, as needed.

·      Perform other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

·      Potential responsibility for training, directing and coaching other team members- no direct supervision.

Required Skills/ Abilities:

·      Three years’ maintenance experience and/or training in a plant environment; feed/ food manufacturing a plus.

·      Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, air systems and flow processes desired; welding skills desired.

·      Excellent attention to detail and proactive/results orientation; demonstrate good attendance, accuracy and responsibility.

·      Strong problem solving and analysis skills; interpret documents such as safety procedures, equipment manuals, and standard operating procedures (SOP).

·      Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

·      Utilize a growth mindset to meet job expectations, such as improvement of maintenance SOPs.

·      Working knowledge of work order systems, especially utilizing a CMMS.

·      Microsoft Office and ERP software experience in a production environment a plus

Physical Requirements:

·      Periods working on feet, walking, bending, stretching, lifting, climbing, and performing repetitive actions.

·      Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds in a heavy manufacturing environment.

·      Manual dexterity needed to manipulate and operate machinery and equipment.

·      Visual acuity needed to inspect machinery.

·      Must be able to work in indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, heights (regular climbing of ladders and sometimes

up to 150 feet

), loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

·      Intermittent periods working on computer.

High school diploma or GED required. Associates degree and /or coursework in related field desired. Forklift operation and experience with OSHA safety compliance preferred. Please note, this job is not eligible for sponsorship. Direct hires only - please, no agencies or recruiters.

Hourly Range is $25-$35\.
