Job Description

METER Group is seeking a Product Test Engineer to support our hardware and software development teams. This role is responsible for quality assurance and fit-for-purpose testing of the embedded firmware running in METER's environmental sensing products and software applications used for interfacing to these products. A Product Test Engineer works closely with METER's cross-disciplinary development teams to ensure our clients have a great experience with our products. This position is based in our Pullman, WA, offices.

The pay range for this role is $60,900 - $86,500 per year. Offers will be made inside this range depending on the experience and abilities of the candidate. In addition to the salary, METER offers stellar benefits, which are listed near the bottom of this posting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in product design reviews by providing input on requirements, design, and testability from the perspective of a client advocate
  • Work with development teams on the creation and execution of hardware and software product test plans
  • Develop manual and automated tests to implement product test plans and regression testing
  • Use AI-based coding tools to accelerate the creation and validation of automated tests
  • Report, and track through resolution, the defects discovered during testing
  • Recreate issues reported by clients
  • Maintain test equipment and METER products used for testing
  • Help to develop best practices and improve testing procedures to insure product performance, reliability, and overall quality

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, a related engineering field or job experience as a Product Test Quality Assurance Engineer
  • Ability to identify incorrect or unexpected product performance and user experience failures
  • Experience using test automation software used to test hardware and software
  • Working knowledge of computer programming and scripting languages suitable for writing automated testing
  • Knowledge of testing processes and testing lifecycles
  • Ability to understand team priorities and balance the challenges of efficiently using time and resources across a variety of product testing responsibilities
  • Possess deep curiosity, a tenacious nature, and keen problem-solving skills that enables finding satisfaction from repetitive testing tasks
  • Possess good written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer and associated software skills, including Microsoft 365 (Teams, Word, Excel…)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience in a Product Test Engineer or Quality Assurance Testing role
  • Product testing certifications such as ISTQB CTFL or similar
  • Experience writing automated hardware testing scripts using Python or similar
  • Experience using issue tracking systems such as GitLab, ClickUp, and Jira.
  • Experience using record and playback application testing software such as Ranorex
  • Experience with test management applications such as SpiraTest
  • Experience with logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies
  • Experience testing embedded products using serial, USB, cellular, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi communications
  • Understanding of communication protocols including TCP/IP, HTTP, MQTT, Modbus, SDI-12
  • Experience testing iOS \& Android mobile apps, Windows \& Mac desktop apps, embedded firmware, and web application
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment

Typical office environment with computer workstation and test instruments.

Physical requirements?

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds over short distances as needed. Sitting for extended periods of time, bending, twisting, and other movement consistent with office environments.

Full-Time Employee Benefits at METER Group
