Vice President of Engineering

VP R\&D/Engineering – Seattle \| Hybrid

I'm representing a seed-stage AI risk detection firm as they look to scale up operations in Seattle, where their technical co-founder is based.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the firm and establish technical direction in an industry ripe for disruption. You'll not only have the opportunity to steer technical direction, but also work alongside two tenured founders and benefit from meaningful equity with the position.

Ideally you'll have worked at an early-stage cybersecurity firm and been a pivotal part of that engineering growth, working in ambiguity and being as comfortable performing a high-level code review as you are liaising with customers.

Responsibilities will include:

• Representing engineering in leadership discussions – identifying risks/blockers and offering mitigations, providing accurate delivery forecasting, and working out customer-centric solutions
• Owning the technical delivery of design partner commitments; ensuring appropriate scoping, feasibility of commitments, build plans and subsequent execution
• Growing and managing the engineering team; hiring, performance management, work allocation etc.
• Owning strategy for evaluating and prioritizing AI/ML (dedicated advisor support is provided here)

What you'll need to bring with you:

• 5 years or more of experience managing a team within an early-stage organization
• Prior experience hiring/ growing an engineering team
• Ability to work in ambiguity and get stuck in as an IC where required (fluency in

Golang

or

Python

is essential, as well as

Kubernetes/K8s

)

• Experience managing teams that ship complex data processing systems / ML systems (classical and/or generative) in a production context
• US work authorization

Desirable qualifications:

• Experience in cybersecurity or adtech
• Experience working directly with AI deployments
• Experience leading from seed/early-stage to Series B (enterprise account coverage, Fortune 250 usage, scaled adoption \& support)
