By concentrating research efforts within selected therapeutic domains, the organization fosters deep scientific expertise and accelerates the development of breakthrough medicines through focused investment and collaboration.

Role Purpose

A newly established Lead Profiling function is seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to work closely with a gastrointestinal and inflammation-focused drug discovery group. This role centers on the development and execution of high-throughput, automated assays using advanced robotic systems, with the goal of supporting early drug discovery and translational research efforts.

The position is ideal for a scientist who thrives at the intersection of immunology, laboratory automation, and data-driven biology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate mechanisms underlying B cell–mediated autoimmune conditions by integrating experimental immunology with automated and computational approaches
  • Conduct large-scale, preclinical pharmacology studies that inform candidate selection and accelerate progression toward clinical development
  • Design, optimize, and deploy cell-based assays on automated platforms to enable rapid, reproducible data generation
  • Partner closely with discovery scientists, automation specialists, and external collaborators to manage workflows and datasets across multiple research programs
  • Promote a collaborative research environment that values scientific rigor, innovation, transparency, and timely execution

Core Accountabilities

  • Lead high-throughput, automation-enabled pharmacology studies that support advancement of discovery candidates into early clinical stages
  • Develop and implement robust in vitro assays to evaluate immune cell behavior, signaling pathways, and compound activity
  • Ensure high standards of data quality, documentation, and reproducibility through well-defined protocols and procedures
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including automation engineering, data science, and discovery biology to support evidence-based decision making
  • Identify technical challenges early and implement creative, practical solutions to maintain research momentum
  • Communicate study results and insights to multidisciplinary project teams and scientific stakeholders

Education \& Experience

  • PhD in Immunology or a related discipline with strong grounding in cell biology and quantitative or computational methods; or
  • Master’s degree with six or more years of relevant industry experience; or
  • Bachelor’s degree with eight or more years of applicable experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology research

Technical \& Professional Skills

  • Hands-on experience with integrated laboratory automation systems and miniaturized assay formats
  • Strong background in immunology techniques such as flow cytometry, ELISA-based methods, cell culture, luminescence assays, and multiplexed platforms
  • Prior experience in autoimmune disease research and translational drug discovery is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with large-scale data analysis, including the application of machine learning or AI-based tools to biological datasets
  • Experience working in cloud-based computing environments and managing research data pipelines
  • Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in team-oriented settings
