Job Description
Hello Klean \| London HQ \| Beauty Solutions for Your Water
Hello Klean is a London-based beauty brand solving hard water problems. We've sold 1M\+ units and grown 700% over two years, entirely bootstrapped. Featured on BBC Dragons' Den (2023), now backed by water filtration giant BRITA Group and expanding internationally.
Hello Klean is looking for a mid-level Video Editor with a strong sense of story, a refined eye, and the ability to create elevated, brand-led video content for the modern beauty landscape.
This isn't a trend-editing role. We're not looking for loud captions, template-driven cuts, or podcast-style edits. We're looking for someone with real craft — someone who can take raw footage and turn it into a world, a feeling, a story.
About the Role
You will be responsible for shaping the visual language of our video output across brand films, product stories, social content, and paid assets. The right candidate understands how to build a narrative without leaning on gimmicks or hyper-edited formats. Sometimes we need to capture the audience's attention very quickly, while other times we need to tell deeper stories with a slower, more deliberate rhythm.
A central part of this role is brand fluency. Through onboarding and ongoing collaboration, you'll develop a deep understanding of the Hello Klean visual identity — the ability to instinctively recognise which pace, colour palette, and tonal qualities belong to our world, and which don't. This requires not just technical skill, but a genuine sensitivity to art direction and visual culture.
Colour grading is another core responsibility. We're looking for someone who approaches colour with cinematic intentionality — someone who can bring consistency, warmth, and a premium tonal feel across all in-house content. Colour is part of how Hello Klean communicates clarity, calm, and trust, and we expect your grading decisions to reflect that.
We also expect strong social media literacy — not just knowing what performs, but understanding
why
. The ideal candidate can distinguish between content that holds attention in the short term, content that builds long-term brand equity, and content that drives conversion. These are different things, and we need someone who can navigate all three.
We expect you to have the ability to transform raw footage into videos ready to post. This means solid skills in editing, colour grading, and visual effects and motion. Of course, this won't always be a one-person job — on larger projects, you'll work as part of a professional production team.
This is a role for a confident storyteller — someone who draws emotion from pacing, framing, and light, and who instinctively knows when a moment is humorous, human, or meaningful. We value someone who cares about their lifestyle and personal creative voice, and who is also a strong, collaborative communicator.
We will provide the necessary hardware and software support based on your capabilities and our project needs.
What You'll Do
- Edit a range of content including brand storytelling, campaigns, social-first videos, product visuals, and paid ads
- Say more with less — build clean, intentional narratives without relying on subtitles to carry the story
- Apply thoughtful, consistent colour grading that aligns with the Hello Klean aesthetic
- Identify standout moments from raw footage, whether emotional beats, humour, or texture
- Work collaboratively with brand, creative, and studio teams to bring concepts to life
- Create social-first videos that feel premium, minimal, and design-led — not trend-led
- Bring strategic thinking to content decisions: what retains viewers, what builds the brand, and what converts
Who You Are
- A mid-level editor with brand, studio, or agency experience
- Highly proficient in English — you can instinctively recognise what's funny, what's unnecessary, and what makes a moment worth keeping
- Someone who lives and breathes social media, but with a strategic lens — you understand tone, context, and culture, and you know the difference between content that performs and content that
builds
- Strong in colour grading, with a cinematic sensibility and examples of consistent, intentional colour work in your reel
- A visual storyteller who builds narrative through pacing, texture, and emotion rather than effects
- Quick to develop brand fluency — you pick up on a brand's visual DNA and apply it consistently across formats
- A working familiarity with AI-based video and creative tools — whether for enhancing existing footage or generating new content, you're comfortable experimenting and have a point of view on how AI fits into a modern editing workflow
- Confident in shaping edits from incomplete footage and elevating simple visuals
- Calm, creative, and able to bring a brand perspective into every cut
Portfolio Requirements (Submission Required)
Please submit a portfolio with your application. We expect proficiency in editing software such as Premiere Pro, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve, and After Effects (for colour grading, VFX, and motion graphics). Kindly indicate your skill level with each tool.
Your portfolio should demonstrate:
- Brand, campaign, or commercial-standard editing
- Strong and intentional colour grading
- Social content that feels refined and premium
- Storytelling that doesn't rely on heavy captions
- Visual sensitivity (movement, framing, lighting, texture)
Editing Test
If you pass the initial review, you may be asked to complete a short non-commercial editing test. This will include:
- A 15-second video made from any materials of your choosing, expressing how you personally interpret and see the Hello Klean brand
- A colour grading showcase using any footage — please include a before/after comparison and a brief overview of your grading workflow
During the interview stage, we'll also invite you to walk us through your experience with AI tools — how you use them, what you've made with them, and where you see them fitting into your process. There's no right answer; we're simply curious about how you think about them.
If you are not willing to participate in this test, please do not submit your application. We're looking for editors with real narrative and visual craft.
This Is Not the Role For:
- Podcast cutdowns
- Caption-heavy viral formats
- Meme edits
- Trend-driven TikTok styles
What We Offer
- A vibrant and supportive team environment
- Opportunities for personal and professional growth
- Competitive salary and performance bonuses
- A hybrid working arrangement — expected to be at our London Shoreditch office 2–3 days per week
- Private Health Insurance
- Work from anywhere policy, up to one month per year.
