Location:

Pittsburgh, PA (will be traveling 50/50 between Pittsburgh \& Harrisburg, PA)

Salary:

$160-180k

Relocation:

Relocation package offered for the right candidate

Candidate Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering / Quantity Surveying / Business / Law (or equivalent)
  • 10\+ years of experience in contract/commercial management on large construction projects ($200M\+), including stewardship of all contract terms and conditions
  • Experience managing major subcontracts and design consultancies
  • Advanced knowledge of construction contract administration and the principles of purchasing, finance, and estimating
  • Proven contractual management ability
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Thorough knowledge of contract language and legal requirements
  • Excellent people management skills

Overview:

Insight Global is seeking a Commercial Manager to support a large‑scale infrastructure project within the PA Pathways PDA program. This individual will lead all contractual and commercial functions, partnering closely with project leadership to manage contracts, subcontracts, claims, risk, and compliance throughout the full project lifecycle. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in commercial management on major construction projects, strong contract acumen, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments while supporting long‑term project success.

Day to Day:

  • Prepare D\&C Contract summaries for the project team, identifying key terms, conditions, risks, and obligations
  • Assist the project team throughout the project lifecycle to ensure compliance with Design \& Build contract obligations
  • Assist with preparation of contractual notices and correspondence, including capturing subcontractor and supplier delays and notifications in accordance with D\&C contract requirements, subcontract requirements, and contract management best practices
  • Provide contractual advice to the project team
  • Develop and implement contractual management policies, procedures, and systems
  • Implement and maintain a formal risk management process, including monthly updates to the project risk register
  • In collaboration with procurement, prepare, negotiate, and finalize:
  • Subcontracts
  • Purchase contracts
  • Purchase orders with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Manage D\&C contract and subcontract administration, including changes and claims
  • Prepare claims by defining contractual entitlement and ensuring appropriate substantiation and quantification
  • Support the defense of claims from subcontractors and suppliers, including refuting entitlement when applicable or fairly evaluating claims with proper documentation
  • Manage financial and commercial considerations related to change orders and claims
  • Prepare monthly reports on contract and commercial matters
  • Assist the project team with contract close‑out to achieve formal project acceptance
  • Maintain a strong working understanding of all contractual issues on the project
  • Provide direction and advice on contractual strategy to support successful project execution
  • Prepare, maintain, and provide access to all project contractual documentation
  • Ensure subcontractors and suppliers have access to correct design specifications and drawings and review work for contractual compliance
  • Assist in preparation of delay, time extension, additional cost, and disruption claims
  • Mentor Junior Commercial Managers
