JOB PURPOSE:
The Director, HR Operations \& Transformation is responsible for leading and modernizing the operating backbone of Numotion’s HR function. This position leads the strategy and execution of HR Operations, Payroll Operations, and HRIS/People Systems. Responsibilities include service delivery, workflow automation, data governance and compliance, reporting, and driving HR digitization and AI enablement across the function.
PAY RANGE:
$142,000 - $185,000 base salary plus an annual incentive performance bonus. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range. Compensation decision depend on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
HR Operations
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing HR Operations capability, cultivating a culture of accountability, service orientation, curiosity, continuous improvement, practical innovation, and disciplined execution.
- Own and continuously improve core HR operational processes, standards, controls, and service delivery across employee data, job and position changes, organizational changes, payroll inputs and controls, documentation, and lifecycle transactions.
- Manage the HR Operations budget and HR technology / operations vendor portfolio, including budget planning, forecasting, expense management, service performance, issue resolution, contract support, renewals, RFP participation, and implementation planning as needed.
- Support HR-related compliance and ACHC readiness by ensuring required people data, process documentation, system evidence, reporting, controls, and remediation practices are accurate, accessible, and sustained in partnership with Compliance, HR, and business stakeholders.
- Partner with HRBPs, Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, Finance, IT, Compliance, and external vendors to align systems, workflows, reporting, and operational practices with legal requirements, internal controls, audit readiness, and business priorities.
- Support merger, acquisition, and integration activities by providing HR Operations, payroll, HRIS, data, process, and system-related expertise, deliverables, and integration planning support.
Payroll \& HRIS
- Oversee payroll operations and payroll governance in partnership with Finance, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, auditability, compliance, and disciplined issue prevention and resolution.
- Lead the HRIS / HR systems strategy in partnership with IT and relevant vendors, including configuration governance, release management, integrations, role-based security, testing, maintenance, change control, and adoption.
HR Technology \& AI
- Partner with stakeholders to define HR technology, process, reporting, and compliance needs and implement solutions aligned with business priorities, regulatory expectations, internal controls, and corporate strategies.
- Lead the HR operations transformation roadmap, including operating model clarification, process redesign, workflow automation, HR digitization, responsible AI enablement, simplification of manual handoffs, and clear ownership across HR and cross-functional partners.
- Serve as the HR AI champion by identifying practical AI use cases, promoting responsible adoption, building HR team capability, partnering with IT and other stakeholders on governance, and ensuring AI-enabled solutions improve efficiency, accuracy, experience, and decision support.
- Create and maintain a prioritized pipeline of digital, automation, and AI-enabled improvement opportunities for high-volume, rules-based, or compliance-sensitive work; ensure solutions reduce administrative burden, improve cycle time, strengthen accuracy, and enhance visibility.
- Apply project and portfolio management discipline to HR transformation initiatives, including prioritization, business cases, requirements definition, stakeholder engagement, resource planning, budget considerations, adoption tracking, and benefit realization.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Information Systems, Operations, Finance, or related field; equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience may be considered.
- 8\+ years of progressive experience in HR operations, people operations, HRIS, payroll operations, HR shared services, or HR transformation.
- 3\+ years of experience leading teams and cross-functional initiatives in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in process redesign, standard operating procedures, workflow improvement, and service delivery management.
- Hands-on experience overseeing HRIS / HCM platforms, integrations, release and change management, data quality, and reporting.
- Experience with payroll operations, payroll controls, compliance-sensitive processes, and issue resolution in partnership with Finance and/or payroll vendors.
- Strong understanding of multistate payroll operations, HR systems, employee data, and HR process dependencies.
- Strong analytical capability, including KPI design, dashboarding, root-cause analysis, and translating data into operational decisions.
- Experience leading technology-enabled change, including automation, self-service, digital adoption, and practical use of AI or intelligent tools in structured business workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to balance strategic design with detailed execution and operational follow-through.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence leaders and translate technical concepts for non-technical partners.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
- ADP experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in a multi-system HR environment that includes enterprise HCM, payroll vendor platforms, employee listening / survey tools, compensation tools, and workflow or case-management technology.
- Experience supporting merger, acquisition, and integration activity, including HRIS, payroll, employee data, and process integration.
- Experience building or maturing an HR service model or shared-services capability.
- Knowledge of process mining, service management disciplines, Lean, or continuous improvement methods.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools and familiarity with data integration or iPaaS concepts.
- Relevant certifications such as SHRM-CP / SHRM-SCP, PHR / SPHR, CPP, PMP, or vendor-specific HRIS certifications.
- Demonstrated ability to act as a change agent and change embracer within a rapidly changing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a matrixed environment, working with cross-functional team members to achieve shared goals.
- Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
