The Role

We are looking for a motivated and talented Biologist to join the firm’s Natural Resources Permitting Group in our Wenatchee, Washington office. If you are looking to advance your career while working alongside industry experts, this opportunity is for you! You will be collaborating with colleagues from across our organization to provide environmental solutions to our clients’ environmental challenges. This is a full-time, non-exempt, hybrid position based out of our Wenatchee, Washington office.

You should be a self-starter and possess strong technical and writing skills to support a wide range of environmental projects. Our ideal candidate will also be detail-oriented, have excellent verbal communication skills, and a positive attitude.

  • Technical writing and reviewing
  • Preparation of documents for environmental permits
  • Field research, study design, and data analysis
  • Work with a range of clients, both public and private, and work within defined budgets.

Requirements:

What You’ll Bring

  • Knowledge of fish and wildlife species and ecology of WA State; primarily Eastern Washington.
  • Bachelor or Masters of Science degree in a biological science, (Biology, Ecology, Fisheries, Zoology, etc.). A Fisheries degree is preferred.
  • 1-5 years of field experience.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing with a wide variety of clients to determine the specific project requirements.
  • Willingness to learn to scope projects, lead projects, manage budgets, and complete invoicing.
  • Ability to work outside in adverse conditions.
  • Ability to perform efficiently and effectively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Have a personal vehicle and a valid WA driver’s license and willing to travel for field work on occasion.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership to complete specific tasks.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and written/oral communication skills.
  • The ability to work through technical issues efficiently and be willing to ask questions.
  • Knowledge and experience with the Shoreline Management Act, Growth Management Act and local county codes.
  • Knowledge and experience with critical areas, compensatory mitigation and endangered species, preferably in Washington state.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and perform field work tasks and a wide range of physical activities, including sustained walking, standing, and reaching in an outdoor environment. This role also requires the ability to sit for extended periods, use a computer, and perform typical office duties.
  • Eagerness to learn.

Bonus Skills

  • Ordinary High Water Mark training by WA Department of Ecology
  • Experience using GIS and/or AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with wetlands and wetland regulations; wetland delineator training preferred.
  • Knowledge of native flora.
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans.
  • Ability to operate small boats.
  • SCUBA experience (PADI certified a plus).
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health \& Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910\.120).
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training.

Pay Range

Our best estimate of the base salary range for this position, is $65,000-$95,000\. Located in the Wenatchee, WA area.

Employees are eligible for an annual cash bonus based on firm and individual performance. Actual compensation will depend on experience, education, and internal equity.
