Job Summary

The Procurement Buyer is responsible for ensuring the uninterrupted flow of materials to support production operations. This role exists to prevent production delays by owning supplier relationships, managing complex component workflows, and proactively addressing supply risks before they impact schedules.

Many components move through multi-stage manufacturing and finishing processes across multiple suppliers. Tracking these parts through every stage—while ensuring they arrive on time, to specification, and in the correct quantities—is essential. The ideal candidate is highly organized, decisive, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, production-driven environment where accountability and urgency are critical.

Job Responsibilities

Supplier Management

Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned suppliers

Own supplier performance related to quality, delivery, and responsiveness

Hold suppliers accountable to commitments and escalate risks early

Conduct regular supplier check-ins to proactively identify potential issues

Build strong working relationships that enable priority support when needed

Pricing \& Negotiation

Negotiate pricing, terms, and purchasing agreements

Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or delivery

Review and validate supplier pricing, quotes, and invoices

Monitor market trends and pricing conditions for key materials

Delivery \& Timing

Coordinate material deliveries to meet production schedules

Track components through multi-stage manufacturing and finishing processes

Manage lead times and communicate accurate timelines to internal stakeholders

Expedite orders as necessary to prevent production disruptions

Coordinate logistics and shipping activities when required

Demand Planning \& Forecasting

Partner with Production and Warehouse teams to align material demand

Forecast material requirements based on production schedules

Maintain required warehouse minimum stock levels at all times

Anticipate demand changes and adjust purchasing plans proactively

Communicate supply constraints or risks to leadership immediately

Problem Solving \& Prioritization

Resolve supply chain issues quickly and decisively

Prioritize competing demands and make informed trade-off decisions

Identify root causes of recurring supply issues and drive long-term solutions

Communicate proactively to avoid surprises

Escalate risks early to protect production continuity

Qualifications

Required

3\+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain in the Automotive space

Experience managing supplier relationships and driving accountability

Strong negotiation and communication skills (written and verbal)

Ability to manage complex, multi-stage component workflows

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Excel

High sense of urgency with strong ownership mindset

Proven problem-solving ability

Preferred

Experience in manufacturing, automotive, or similar production environments

Experience supporting custom or low-volume manufacturing

Familiarity with paint, finishing, or multi-stage production processes

Experience with logistics coordination and freight management

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field
