Job Description

We’re partnering with a growing and well-established business in the pharmaceutical sector to appoint an experienced Procurement Manager to lead their sourcing and supply chain function.

In this role, you will oversee the end-to-end procurement function, ensuring the business has the right products, suppliers and systems in place to support operational performance and future growth.

You will work closely with Finance, Planning, Production, QA and Sales to improve efficiency, reduce cost, optimise inventory and strengthen supplier performance.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the Procurement team, providing direction, coaching and ongoing development
  • Drive sourcing, purchasing and supplier management activities across the business
  • Build and implement procurement strategies that support business growth, operational efficiency and cost control
  • Negotiate supplier pricing, contracts and commercial terms to maximise value and reduce risk
  • Identify and onboard new suppliers to strengthen the supply chain and support future requirements
  • Partner with Legal and Finance to ensure supplier agreements, procurement spend and payment terms are commercially sound
  • Improve inventory management, stock turn and planning processes to reduce excess, slow-moving and obsolete stock
  • Work closely with Planning and Production to ensure procurement decisions align with demand forecasts and operational requirements
  • Monitor open purchase orders and make proactive recommendations around timing, cancellations or order optimisation
  • Strengthen procurement systems, reporting and data accuracy to support smarter business decisions
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and supply chain operations
  • Develop contingency plans and manage supplier and supply chain risks to minimise business disruption
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management related to procurement and inventory

About You

  • Proven experience in a Procurement Manager or similar leadership role
  • Strong background within manufacturing, healthcare, pharmaceutical, FMCG or a related industry
  • Demonstrated success leading a procurement or supply chain team within a medium to large organisation
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in supplier negotiation, contract management and cost optimisation
  • Solid understanding of procurement operations, inventory management and supply chain processes
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Finance, Production, QA, Sales and Planning teams
  • Confident using ERP systems and procurement reporting tools
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business or a related discipline
