Job Description
Madison is a small, collaborative financial services firm seeking a highly detail-oriented, reliable HR Generalist to support day-to-day human resources operations. This is a standalone, hands-on role reporting directly to the Controller, requiring someone who is comfortable working independently and taking full ownership of all HR functions.
This role pays $70,000 \+ 401k and health insurance benefits.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and manage payroll accurately weekly using Paychex PEO
- Administer employee benefits, including: 401(k) plans, health, dental, and vision insurance, disability insurance, flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)
- Maintain up-to-date employee records and HR documentation
- Handle workers’ compensation audits and related reporting
- Manage unemployment claims and respond to unemployment correspondence
- Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding processes
- Assist with candidate interviews and hiring coordination
- Support employee relations, including addressing performance-related matters and participating in employee conversations as needed
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable employment laws
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources experience
- Hands-on experience with payroll processing and benefits administration
- Proven ability to work independently in a standalone HR role preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills (required)
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Strong communication skills and reliability
- Bachelor's Degree Required
Preferred:
- SHRM-CP (or similar HR certification)
