Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Tempe, AZ (100% Onsite)

Rockford Fosgate is looking for a motivated and multi‑disciplined Electrical Engineer who is passionate about designing and validating high‑performance audio electronics. You will contribute across the product lifecycle—from concept and design through validation and launch—working closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable, production‑ready hardware for aftermarket and OEM audio products.

Key Responsibilities

• You will report to the Manager of Electrical Engineering who will support your technical growth and development
• Design, analyze, and validate analog and digital electronic circuits for audio applications
• Contribute to the design of audio amplifiers, power supplies, and supporting circuitry
• Create schematics and support PCB layout development using Altium Designer
• Perform board bring‑up, bench debugging, and real‑world validation testing
• Collaborate with product management and cross‑functional teams to understand requirements and support development
• Work closely with embedded software engineers to support hardware platforms for MCUs, DSPs, wireless modules, etc
• Partner with mechanical engineers to support enclosure integration, thermal considerations, and mechanical interfaces
• Execute hardware validation activities including functional, performance, and reliability testing
• Assist in developing manufacturing and end‑of‑line test strategies
• Identify, reproduce, and help resolve hardware defects in new and existing designs
• Support documentation of designs, test results, and engineering changes
• Stay current with component technologies, tools, and best practices
• Support limited domestic and international travel as needed (\~10%)

Required Skills / Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field
• 3–7 years of relevant industry experience in electronics design and validation
• Solid foundation in analog and digital circuit design
• Experience supporting audio amplifiers, power electronics, or mixed‑signal designs
• Familiarity with SMPS concepts, amplifier classes, and analog signal paths
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout support
• Hands‑on experience with board bring‑up, debugging, and troubleshooting
• Familiarity with lab equipment including oscilloscopes, Audio Precision, power supplies, and spectrum analyzers
• Experience using Altium Designer and basic SPICE simulation tools
• Understanding of hardware validation, design verification, and production readiness concepts
• Strong problem‑solving skills with attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as collaboratively within a team
• Self‑motivated with a desire to learn and grow technically

Desired Skills (Optional)

• Exposure to DSP concepts such as crossovers, filters, limiters, and delay
• Experience with Bluetooth or other wireless module integration
• Familiarity with EMC concepts and design best practices
• Experience supporting manufacturing test or automated test systems
• Basic understanding of firmware or close collaboration with embedded software teams
• Automotive, marine, motorcycle, or motorsports audio experience
