SUMMARY

The Director, Software Development, is responsible for leading Altura’s engineering teams in the design, development, and deployment of software solutions. This role oversees the full-stack lifecycle for web, mobile, and Windows-based applications, with a specific focus on integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advance workflow automation. As a key member of the management team, the Director must exercise significant operational autonomy, making firm technical decisions under limited supervision to meet strategic initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Full-Stack Engineering \& AI: Manages the development of scalable web and mobile applications, integrating AI and Machine Learning models to enhance member service and fraud detection.
  • Windows \& Core Integration: Oversees the creation of Windows-based desktop applications and .NET services that interface with credit union core banking systems (e.g., Symitar, Corelation).
  • Workflow Automation: Manages the development of advanced workflow automation packages (e.g., Power Automate). Works closely with the Data \& Analytics and Technology Infrastructure teams to ensure workflow automation is consistent and secure.
  • SDLC \& API Governance: Manages the end-to-end Project Life Cycle (PLC) and API design, ensuring code quality through CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
  • Team Performance: Develops, maintains, and collaborates with management on team performance metrics and technical standards.
  • Project Management: Manages all software projects independently to ensure requirements, timelines, and deliverables are met without constant oversight.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee the direction and general operation of Altura’s software development processes by managing the performance of the software development team. Directs, manages and improves cross functional value steams spawning both back office and member facing processes. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with related policies, procedures, applicable state and federal laws and the credit union’s strategic plan.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS

  • A four-year college degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field is required. A graduate degree or advanced certification in related field is desired.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in multi-tier solutions development, including Web (React/Angular), Mobile (iOS/Android), and Windows (.NET/C#).
  • Minimum of five (5) years managing a Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) with a focus on Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
  • Demonstrated experience deploying AI-driven features or large-scale system integrations utilizing modern API protocols.
  • Expertise with Credit Union core systems (Symitar desired) and the security requirements of the financial industry is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in developing with PowerOn or Java for core-specific logic (highly preferred for Jack Henry/Symitar or Corelation Keystone environments).
  • Expert-level proficiency with workflow automation tools and development techniques – with a special focus on enterprise-level process automation.
  • Experience managing Core Banking API integrations to connect third-party fintech partners (e.g., specialized loan origination or digital wallet services)
