Computational Biologist Associate
Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Computational Biologist Associate to join our team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of our genomic analysis operations, playing a pivotal role in both the operation and enhancement of our whole genome sequencing (WGS) analysis pipeline. Your responsibilities will encompass managing sample registration and the WGS analysis pipeline operation, ensuring its smooth progression to the patient report. In addition, you will provide crucial support to our pipeline development efforts. You will have a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in computational biology, as well as expertise in the fields of cancer genomics and rare disease genetics.
Key Responsibilities:
WGS Pipeline Operation:
- Registering samples on a laboratory information management system (LIMS) through effective communication with web lab, clinical, and sales/marketing teams.
- Scheduling and managing the WGS analysis pipeline operation.
- Resolving pipeline errors and issues by collaborating with the pipeline development team.
Supplementary Analysis \& Data Management:
- Providing bioinformatics support and performing quality control reviews for research projects and samples processed outside of the standard pipeline workflow.
- Managing secure and accurate data transfers between internal systems and external collaborators, including data delivery to customers, in compliance with data handling protocols.
Pipeline Development Support:
- System documentation, resource and software license management.
- Contributing to the pipeline development process by benchmarking computational biology tools and databases.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Genomics, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or related field.
- Experience with programming languages used in computational biology (e.g., Python, R, or Shell).
- Experience in command line interface (Linux).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in analyzing high-throughput biological data, such as next-generation sequencing data and microarrays.
- Experience in cloud computing (e.g., AWS) environment.
- Background in cancer genomics and rare disease genetics.
- Understanding of statistical methods and data visualization techniques.

Compensation:
$50,000 - $80,000 BOE
