Head of Curriculum – English

About the role
We’re looking for an ambitious Head of Curriculum – English to lead, shape and grow our English provision. This is a pivotal role within the college, offering the opportunity to influence curriculum strategy, drive quality and make a tangible impact on learners, communities and regional skills priorities. As Head of Curriculum, you’ll provide clear vision and direction for the English department, creating the conditions for outstanding teaching, learning and assessment. You’ll work closely with colleagues across the college and with external partners to ensure the curriculum is relevant, ambitious and aligned to local, regional and national priorities.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading and inspiring Curriculum Leaders and teaching teams to deliver high-quality, aspirational English provision
- Designing and developing a curriculum that meets learner needs, supports positive destinations and responds to skills gaps
- Driving excellence in teaching, learning and assessment, with a strong focus on continuous improvement
- Managing departmental budgets to deliver a high-quality, cost-effective curriculum
- Building strong relationships with employers, schools, community organisations and other stakeholders
- Ensuring compliance with funding, quality assurance, safeguarding and health \& safety requirements
- Playing an active role in college-wide initiatives and contributing to NCG’s strategic ambitions
What we’re looking for
You’ll be a confident and experienced leader with a strong background in English education and curriculum delivery. You’ll bring:
- A degree (or equivalent professional qualification) at Level 6 or above
- Proven experience leading and line managing teams, setting clear expectations and tackling underperformance
- A strong track record of delivering against strategic objectives and quality standards
- Experience managing budgets and driving value for money
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and partnership-building skills
- A deep commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and learner wellbeing
