Job Description
The Accounting Manager is responsible for supporting the Controller in delivering accurate, timely, and compliant financial information. This role oversees daily accounting operations, supervises a small accounting team, and partners with leadership on financial reporting, analysis, and special projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Prepare, review, and approve manual and automated journal entries.
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including supervising and mentoring an accounting team of two (2).
- Collaborate closely with the Controller and senior management on financial reporting, projects, and ad hoc analyses.
- Coordinate with external auditors and serve as a key point of contact for audits.
- Perform detailed review of balance sheet reconciliations and investigate, resolve, and document discrepancies.
- Assist with internal controls, process improvements, and efficiency initiatives within the accounting function.
- Perform additional accounting-related duties and special projects as assigned.
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g. pivot tables, data analysis).
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required (CPA or CPA-eligible preferred but not required)
- Minimum 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience strongly preferred.
