About The Role

The Senior Cerner Application Developer at Prosum plays a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining complex healthcare information systems. This position requires a seasoned professional with deep expertise in Cerner CCL customization, reporting, and analytics to support clinical, operational, and administrative functions. The role involves providing technical leadership, managing system enhancements, and collaborating closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions. The Senior Cerner Application Developer will work independently on complex projects, guide junior team members, and serve as a subject matter expert in Cerner applications and data modeling. Qualifications

Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience. A minimum of five years of relevant experience in healthcare IT, with at least three years working within a healthcare information systems environment, is required. Strong hands-on experience with Cerner CCL scripting and customization is essential, along with proficiency in Discern and PowerInsight reporting tools. Candidates should have a minimum of one year of Cerner data modeling experience. Consulting or project management experience is preferred, demonstrating the ability to lead initiatives and manage stakeholder expectations. Technical proficiency in SQL, Tableau, Olympus, and related technologies is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver with excellent communication skills, capable of working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain Cerner CCL customizations and reporting solutions to support clinical and operational workflows. Create and support standard and ad hoc reports, including scheduling, monitoring delivery, and integrating data with enterprise analytics platforms such as PowerInsight and Discern. Develop and maintain data models, reports, and dashboards to facilitate data-driven decision-making. Support custom mPage development, including XR templates and CCL customization requests, ensuring alignment with user requirements.

Analyze user needs and translate them into detailed technical design specifications. Perform gap analyses, define system scope and objectives, and recommend improvements to existing systems. Lead and resolve complex system, data, and architecture issues independently, providing technical guidance and expertise. Participate in system installations, upgrades, and enhancements, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations. Maintain current knowledge of healthcare IT standards, best practices, and emerging technologies, including ITIL frameworks.

Collaborate closely with clinical and operational stakeholders to support workflows, respond to service requests, incidents, and enhancement requests in a timely manner. Work with vendors, system owners, contractors, and internal teams to deliver effective solutions that meet organizational needs. Identify opportunities for system optimization and process improvements, applying innovative approaches to enhance reporting, analytics, and workflow efficiency.

Contribute to multiple projects simultaneously, assisting with goal-setting, milestones, and timelines. Monitor progress, prepare status reports, and facilitate cross-functional meetings to ensure project success. Lead small to medium-sized initiatives, fostering collaboration among team members and stakeholders. Provide training and mentorship to staff on supported systems and applications, including coordinating training efforts during system implementations. Participate in on-call support rotations as required, ensuring continuous system availability and performance.
