Who are we?
CT Sounds is a direct-to-consumer car audio brand offering amplifiers, subwoofers, speakers, wiring, and accessories. The company is owned and operated by our CEO, Calvin Thedinger, who has been leading the business since November 2020 at the age of 23\.
We’re a young, driven team focused on building a brand that dominates its market. Since 2020, we’ve scaled from 1,250 sq ft to 2,500 sq ft to 10,000 sq ft, and just moved into a 40,000 sq ft warehouse in August 2025\.
You’ll be joining a company in the middle of a major growth story. Sound cool? Join us.
Description:
You will work directly with the CEO to build the creative flywheel and the team behind it that drives growth for CT Sounds. As the team’s first full-time creative leadership hire, you will be in the weeds building the systems, processes, and creative workflows needed to scale content production. Over time, you will hire and train new team members to manage the workload, but you will always be responsible for building the systems that turn your ideas and strategies into scalable execution.
You will manage the entire video creative process from concept to completion, including writing scripts, directing shoots, creating edit briefs, reviewing edits, and approving videos for launch. Within your first two to three months, the goal is for you to hire and manage a Video Editor/Coordinator who can coordinate shoots, record videos, and edit content. Until that role is hired, you need to be comfortable doing those things yourself.
You will take over our existing influencer outreach program, including contacting influencers, developing creative briefs, managing follow-ups and deliverables, and overseeing edits for the videos we receive. Once the process is established, day-to-day communication can be handed off to another team member while you continue overseeing the program and creative direction.
Because we are currently a lean team, you will need strong video editing skills, including chopping footage, rearranging audio, and adding background music. You do
not
need to be skilled in motion graphics or subtitles, but you should have a strong eye for both and be able to direct specialists who handle that work.
CEO Collaboration: Our CEO brings a constant flow of ideas, so part of your role will be helping refine, prioritize, and turn those ideas into reality.
Primary Duties:
- Creative Strategy:
Develop ad concepts, UGC scripts, hooks, storylines, and brand messaging geared toward DTC audiences.
- Video Production:
Manage the video creative process from concept to completion, including shot lists, shoot direction, edit briefs, review notes, and final approvals.
- Influencer Outreach:
Build and manage our influencer content program, including creator briefs, follow-ups, deliverables, and creative direction for submitted videos.
- Brand Growth Initiatives:
Help refine and execute ideas that increase brand visibility, improve brand perception, and drive higher conversion rates across our website and marketing channels.
- Creative Systems:
Build repeatable systems, processes, and workflows that allow us to scale creative output without sacrificing quality or brand consistency.
- Performance Analysis:
Work with the paid marketing team to understand creative performance metrics such as spend, thumbstop, hold rate, CTR, CPC, and ROAS.
Experience/Skills:
- You have experience building creative teams, systems, or workflows from the ground up, preferably in a lean or fast-growing company.
- You have experience working for a direct-to-consumer brand, preferably in the automotive, consumer electronics, or enthusiast-driven space.
- You have strong creative judgment and can oversee every piece of creative that goes out, whether it is a video ad, influencer brief, or brand storytelling initiative.
- You can create shot lists, creative briefs, and edit briefs that clearly communicate the vision without needing to personally direct every detail.
- You have a strong working knowledge of video editing and are comfortable chopping footage, rearranging audio, adding background music, and making rough cuts without needing to rely on an editor for every small change.
- You can write strong direct-response copy for hooks, VO scripts, captions, headlines, and ad concepts. You understand what needs to be said, what does not need to be said, and how to make the message hit quickly.
- You can operate in a lean environment and juggle many responsibilities. You are comfortable being the architect of the strategy while also jumping behind the camera, reviewing edits, rewriting copy, building briefs, organizing assets, and doing whatever is needed to keep creative moving.
- You are highly organized and can manage ideas, scripts, assets, logistics, scheduling, influencer deliverables, and creative workflows without things slipping through the cracks.
- You can take direct constructive feedback without getting defensive. Our CEO is direct, fast-moving, and no-fluff, so there is no BS in how we operate.
Location / Work Arrangement:
This role is based at our headquarters in Houston, TX, near I-10 and I-610\. This is not a fully remote position. The general expectation is around three days per week in the office and two days remote, with flexibility on the exact days and no strict arrival or departure time as long as the work is getting done, shoots are covered, and the team has what it needs.
We are building this team in person, so we want someone who wants to be around the team, get to know the people here, and be part of the day-to-day energy of building the brand. If you are looking for a mostly remote role, this is not the right fit.
