Mechanical Engineer

Piper Maddox is partnered with a fast-growing and innovative nuclear energy company seeking a Remote Handling Engineer to join their expanding team. This is a critical hire that will directly support the company’s next phase of growth and reactor development.

As a key member of the engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in the design and build of the company’s core reactor systems. You will lead the development of advanced remote handling equipment used to service, inspect, and replace critical reactor components in highly hazardous environments.

This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge nuclear technology while solving complex engineering challenges. You will design for extreme conditions, including high radiation, elevated temperatures, and constrained access environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop remote handling systems and equipment for reactor maintenance and operations
• Support servicing, inspection, and replacement of critical reactor components
• Evaluate and engineer solutions for highly hazardous operating conditions
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust, safety-critical systems
• Take ownership of key project deliverables from concept through implementation

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• Experience in early-stage mechanical design and development
• Background working in highly hazardous or restricted environments
• Knowledge of or experience with liquid metal systems
• Proven ability to take ownership of mission-critical engineering projects
• Prior experience in nuclear or adjacent industries preferred
