Job Purpose

Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, is seeking adjunct instructors in the School of Education, specifically for (undergraduate) ELL Endorsement and (graduate) MA-TESOL courses. The successful candidate will have the enthusiasm, classroom presence, and skills to engage students and should be committed to pursuing excellence in teaching and promoting an inclusive learning environment. The successful candidate will be fully responsible for course planning, delivering class sessions, creating and collecting assignments, submitting grades, and be available to students for office hours for one hour per week per course (or more if needed depending on the course, program and department). Essential Functions

  • Hold office hours (amount determined in consultation with Department Chair)
  • Create and grade assignments, including submitting grades according to established deadlines
  • Prepare, plan and teach assigned courses

Minimum Qualifications

Degree in the area of expertise the adjunct is applying to teach in (or a closely related field): MA for undergraduate courses and PhD for graduate courses.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching in a classroom setting.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness, including the ability to effectively respond to the academic needs of learners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience using classroom strategies and pedagogies to advance equity and inclusion.
