About the Opportunity

The primary responsibility of the Facility Outpatient Auditor is to audit ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier assignment while identifying documentation improvement opportunities based on medical record documentation for a variety of client projects.

What You'll Do

  • Audit ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier assignment based on medical record documentation.
  • Enter audit findings into audit software and/or audit detail reports.
  • Evaluate the overall quality of facility documentation and identify opportunities for provider education and documentation improvement.
  • Perform internal coder quality reviews.
  • Develop coding recommendations for inclusion in Executive Summary reports.
  • Meet established productivity standards.
  • Maintain a minimum quality review accuracy rate of 95%.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion and submission of audit reports.
  • Accurately record time in the company's timekeeping system.
  • Comply with all policies regarding the use and disclosure of protected health information (PHI), accessing information only as necessary to perform assigned responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations, coding guidelines, and health information management standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring

  • Current CCS, RHIT, CPC, or COC credential required.
  • AHIMA ICD-10-CM proficiency.
  • Minimum of five years of outpatient facility coding and auditing experience with ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier assignment.
  • Advanced knowledge of outpatient facility coding principles and reimbursement methodologies.
  • Experience auditing multiple outpatient specialties and identifying documentation improvement opportunities.
  • Extensive knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to research complex coding questions.
  • Experience entering coding and audit data into databases and audit software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
