Job Description

Mechanical Engineer II / III

Location:

La Vergne, TN

Position Overview:

We’re partnering with a growing engineering team focused on designing and supporting complex industrial equipment. This team is known for its collaborative, low-ego culture, where engineers take pride in their work, support each other, and enjoy solving challenging technical problems together.

This opportunity is ideal for engineers who enjoy digging into how systems actually work, supporting real-world production, and continuously improving designs based on hands-on feedback.

You’ll play a key role in owning and improving CAD models, supporting production, and translating real-world challenges into better designs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, modify, and maintain parametric CAD models and assemblies
  • Support customer-specific configurations through updates to models, drawings, and BOMs
  • Partner with production teams to troubleshoot assembly issues and refine designs
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure alignment with engineering standards
  • Translate customer and production feedback into design improvements
  • Support integration of mechanical and electrical components (wiring, connectors, harnesses)
  • Interpret and incorporate external drawings and specifications
  • Maintain accurate documentation, drawings, and BOMs within ERP systems
  • Contribute to improving model robustness, documentation quality, and engineering standards

At the senior level (ME III), you’ll also:

  • Take ownership of key subsystems and ensure overall design integrity
  • Help mentor junior engineers and influence engineering best practices

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical Engineering degree (or related field)
  • 3–6 years of experience in mechanical design or product engineering
  • Strong experience with AutoCAD and Inventor
  • Strong experience with parametric CAD modeling (parts \& assemblies)
  • Background supporting production environments or hands-on assembly
  • Solid understanding of mechanical fundamentals (load paths, fatigue, failure modes)
  • Experience with sheet metal and weldment design
  • Ability to break down and clearly communicate how complex systems function
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with manufacturing, electrical, and systems teams
  • Familiarity with engineering change processes and revision control
  • Exposure to electrical integration (cable routing, connectors, grounding, etc.)

Why This Role Stands Out:

  • Helping build out a new team within the organization
  • Strong team-first engineering culture — no egos, just good problem solving
  • High visibility into real products and real-world performance
  • Opportunity to own meaningful portions of a system, not just individual parts
  • Clear path for technical growth and increased ownership
