Tax Controversy Associate
Locations: Boston, MA
An elite global law firm is seeking a 2nd–5th year Associate to join its nationally recognised Tax Controversy practice. This is an exceptional opportunity to work on sophisticated domestic and cross-border tax disputes for multinational corporations, high-net-worth individuals and tax-exempt organisations.
This role can be based in Boston, MA, Chicago, IL, New York, NY, or Washington, DC.
The role offers exposure to complex federal, state, local and international tax controversy matters, alongside significant responsibility within one of the market’s premier tax platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on complex tax controversy and dispute matters
- Handle federal, state, local and cross-border tax disputes
- Support litigation, investigations and administrative proceedings
- Draft legal memoranda, motions and dispute-related submissions
- Work on matters involving corporate, partnership, transfer pricing and international tax issues
- Assist with sensitive matters involving penalties, investigations and compliance issues
- Collaborate closely with appellate and litigation teams on high-stakes matters
Who You Are
- 2nd–5th year associate
- Experience in complex tax disputes and tax controversy matters
- Background in corporate, partnership, transfer pricing, international tax, SALT and/or criminal tax matters preferred
- Strong academic credentials
- Excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills
- Experience at a leading law firm, government agency or sophisticated tax practice preferred
- Collaborative, detail-oriented and commercially minded
Compensation
Salary Range: $235,000 – $365,000 depending on class year and experience
