Overview

We are seeking a passionate and energetic After School Dance Instructor to join our team. This role involves teaching dance classes to children in a supportive and engaging environment, driving our van for pickup, only 2-5 miles, picking up from a few schools. looking for someone with confidence, and physical development skills to offer our growing youth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dance instruction or dance experience, experience working with children, and excellent classroom management skills. This position offers an opportunity to inspire young students through movement and artistic expression while contributing to their social and emotional growth. You will also choreograph multiple dances and be highlighted as a choreographer in Christmas and spring recital. This is not a micromanaging position and you will be free to use your expertise when choreographing. The ages range from 5 years old to 12 years old.

Duties

  • Plan and deliver age-appropriate dance lessons that promote physical activity, creativity, and self-expression. Beginner In Hiphop- Lyrical, contemporary, musical theatre, jazz, tap, and ballet.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively, ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Be willing to work full day camps for school closures, spring break camps and summer camps.
  • Incorporate fun and educational activities that align with students' developmental levels.
  • Monitor student progress and provide encouragement to boost confidence and participation.
  • Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student progress and classroom events.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe dance space in compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Assist with after-school programs, including supervising children during transitions and related activities.
  • Apply basic first aid when necessary, ensuring the safety of all students.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to create inclusive programming that supports diverse learning needs.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, preschool, camp, tutoring, or childcare is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of dance techniques suitable for children of various ages.
  • Experience in classroom management, behavior management, and childhood development principles.
  • Certifications such as first aid or special education training are a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to connect with young students effectively.
  • Background in theater, sports coaching, babysitting, or Christian counseling can be advantageous for creating engaging lessons.
  • Passion for working with children and fostering their growth through movement and arts education. This position is designed for individuals committed to nurturing children's development through dance while providing a safe and inspiring environment for learning and fun.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17\.00 - $27\.25 per hour

Expected hours: 17 – 30 per week
