AI Backend Software Engineer

Our client, an enterprise fintech startup focused on the insurance industry, is seeking Backend Software Engineers (4–12 YOE) to join its growing team.

This is a high-impact role for a curious, highly autonomous engineer who wants to own the design and implementation of end-to-end workflows in a complex, high-stakes domain. You'll play a foundational role in building the product from the ground up, tackling challenging backend and automation problems from day one.

What you'll do:

Build end-to-end workflows for insurance agencies, with a focus on automation and AI-driven solutions

Integrate with fragmented and often low-tech systems, creating reliable and scalable infrastructure

Work directly with customers to gather feedback, iterate quickly, and translate technical concepts into clear solutions

Contribute to greenfield development, building on top of an existing browser automation layer

Collaborate on system design and architecture to solve complex, real-world problems

What they're looking for:

4–12 years of backend engineering experience, ideally in startup environments

Experience at early-stage companies (pre-Series D); founding engineer experience is a plus

Background working in complex or low-tech industries (insurance, fintech, healthcare) preferred

Proficiency with modern AI coding tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor)

Experience with browser automation or web scraping is a plus

Strong curiosity and willingness to engage directly with customers
