Job Description

About Us

We're building the future of cloud security- not another dashboard that tells you what's wrong, but a platform that actually fixes it.

Act Security helps organizations understand

who

and

what

can access their cloud resources, and gives them the tools to enforce precise, zero-trust policies- without breaking things. We map access paths across cloud environments, surface real risk, and enable teams to act on it safely. As AI becomes embedded in every digital asset, the attack surface is expanding- and we're building the infrastructure to secure it.

We're early-stage, well-funded and growing fast. If you want to build something meaningful from the ground up and see your work ship to production within days- this is the place.

Our Culture

We live by three values:

Win, Learn, Have Fun.

We play to win- we set ambitious goals and hold ourselves to high standards. We learn constantly- from customers, from each other, and from our mistakes. And we have fun doing it: we believe great work happens when people enjoy working together.

About The Role

We're looking for an AI Engineer to join our Research team and help shape how AI powers our platform. You'll explore and prototype AI-driven capabilities- from intelligent policy recommendations to risk analysis and automated remediation concepts. This is a research-focused role where you'll experiment with cutting-edge techniques, validate ideas through rapid prototyping, and collaborate with engineering to bring the best concepts to life.

What You'll Do

  • Research, design, and prototype AI agents and LLM-powered features for security automation
  • Explore and evaluate new models, architectures, and techniques for cloud security use cases
  • Build proof-of-concept ML pipelines to process and analyze cloud infrastructure data
  • Develop evaluation frameworks and benchmarks to test AI capabilities before they reach production
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Research leadership to identify high-impact opportunities
  • Stay current with the latest in LLMs, agents, and applied AI- and bring new ideas to the team

Requirements

  • 5\+ years of experience as a software engineer, ML engineer, or research scientist
  • 2\+ years of hands-on experience with large language models and NLP techniques
  • Experience prototyping AI agents or automation systems for complex workflows
  • Familiarity with multiple LLM providers, RAG architectures, and fine-tuning approaches (open-source or commercial)
  • Strong experimentation mindset- comfortable iterating quickly and learning from failures
  • Strong sense of ownership, clear communication skills, and ability to translate research into actionable insights

Nice To Have

  • Background in cloud infrastructure, security, or DevOps
  • Experience with graph-based data or knowledge systems
  • Contributions to open-source AI/ML projects

Why Join Us

  • Real ownership- this is an early-stage company where engineers drive decisions
  • Ship fast- we deploy daily and iterate based on real customer feedback
  • AI-native environment- you'll join an AI-native team. We help customers secure their AI workloads, build intelligent automation into our product, and use AI tools every day as part of how we build and ship.
  • Top-tier team- founders with deep security and product experience, surrounded by a team of experts and backed by leading investors
  • Competitive package- strong salary, meaningful equity, and the upside of joining early
