Job Purpose:

This role is responsible to ensure the highest standards of quality assurance for Civil systems and project activities. This involves coordinating and conducting on-site inspections, overseeing the inspection of civil works, and managing the preparation and review of Field Quality Plans. Additionally, the role includes conducting civil quality tests, maintaining testing protocols, and leading quality awareness training to uphold excellence in civil engineering practices.

Responsibilities

Quality Assurance and Inspection:

  • Coordinate and conduct on-site inspections with O\&M engineers and agencies as per quality procedures, quotes, and standards.
  • Inspect all civil activities during regular maintenance, RSD, AOH/COH in accordance with the Field Quality Plan (FQP).
  • Perform timely inspection for site modification jobs, station excellence projects, and RC action points to enhance reliability.
  • Execute the preparation, review, and approval of civil package (FQPs) for contractor works.
  • Perform painting inspection of civil and mechanical structures.
  • Inspect the repair and strengthening of various civil concrete structures, including cooling towers and chimneys.
  • Create and maintain civil-related documents and records for compliance and quality assurance.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including agencies, to achieve quality objectives.
  • Conduct a monthly review of civil contractor bills, as verified and approved by the Civil Maintenance Engineer.

Quality Control And Testing

  • Perform various civil quality tests, including compressive strength of concrete cubes, slump test, silt content, sieve analysis of sand and aggregate, etc.
  • Monitor the healthiness and calibration of civil quality lab testing equipment and instruments.
  • Maintain and ensure the accuracy of all civil quality testing protocols and records for further actions.
  • Carry out total Balance of Plant (BoP) area painting inspections of structures and equipment with necessary tests.
  • Perform the maintenance of essential infrastructure such as roads and pipelines, ensuring their operational integrity and compliance with safety standards.

Business Sustainability

  • Implement and follow IMS, AWMS, DISHA, and CHETNA guidelines within the department.
  • Implement and follow CHETNA Safety standards in the department to achieve zero harm.
  • Participate in relevant trainings to stay updated on the latest civil quality testing standards and techniques.
  • Support quality awareness trainings for agency engineers, supervisors, and workmanship to enhance overall quality..
  • Foster a culture of environmental awareness and sustainability in all civil projects and maintenance activities.
  • Support regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations and company policies.

Digitization And Automation

  • Execute integration of advanced technology and comprehensive digitization strategies in civil quality assurance processes to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Implement automation solutions to support overall organizational goals and strategy.
  • Implement process and system improvements, adopting newer technologies and innovative ideas.
  • Monitor and analyse data from digital systems to inform decision-making and improve quality outcomes

Qualifications

Educational Qualification:

Bachelor's in Civil Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.

Work Experience (Range Of Years)

6\+ years of experience in quality assurance/control, with a significant portion in a leadership role within the power sector or related heavy industries.

Preferred Industry

Candidates with experience in the power generation, energy, or related heavy industrial sectors are preferred, with a strong background in operational excellence and quality management systems.
