Job Description

The Assistant Manager-Warehouse Operations for Chemicals will be responsible for the full day-to-day Warehousing Operations, steering the operational teams, ensuring high quality execution of all warehouse related activities. Daily liaising both with clients and internal stake holders, improving overall efficiency and increasing departmental profits while managing the warehousing performance.

The job holder oversees a wide variety of elements in the warehousing business, including

hiring staff, operating within budget, reporting, and setting plus beating challenging KPI’s for

growth and customer satisfaction. Key element to achieve these goals and parameters, is to

build and ensure a highly motivated team that is productive, agile and customer centric.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. The role carries heightened accountability for Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) compliance, ensuring strict adherence to chemical storage regulations (e.g., segregation, compatibility, MSDS adherence), emergency response readiness, and risk mitigation across all activities.
  2. Ensure full compliance with UAE regulations and international standards for chemical storage, handling, and transport (e.g., segregation, labelling, MSDS availability).
  3. Enforce strict HSE protocols, including hazardous material handling procedures, spill prevention, and emergency response readiness.
  4. Ensure segregation of incompatible chemicals and proper zoning within the warehouse (flammables, corrosives, toxics, etc.).
  5. Supervising and steering daily all warehousing activities and its staff.
  6. Supervising, evaluating, and reporting on warehouse productivity and efficiency to both customers and internal stake holders.
  7. Tracking and coordinating the secure receipt, storage, and timely delivery of goods and materials to and from the warehouse.
  8. Checking orders, bills, items received, inventory, and deliveries for its accuracy.
  9. Maintaining records, reporting relevant information, and preparing any necessary documentation supporting its customers, DP World Logistics accounting, management, and operational teams.
  10. Ensuring high-end maintenance standards and compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations. Support, comply and ensure commitment to all company and authorities Health \& Safety regulations, and all other relevant company policies and procedures.
  11. Coordinating and maintaining all warehouse equipment, ensuring daily MHE fitness checks to enable full operational capacity and achieve daily capability targets.
  12. Professional communication and coordinating with customers, logistics stake holders and relevant other DP World departments.
  13. Manage Manpower resources effectively and efficiently to support customer delivery requirements by planning and adjusting flexible staffing levels to meet daily operational requirements within the warehouse.
  14. Monitor and review operational methods to facilitate both qualitative and quantitative improvements within the operation whilst ensuring continuous high-end customer service and quality standards.
  15. Maintain training matrix and ensure warehouse employees are adequately trained and competent within their role to ensure operational flexibility.
  16. Liaise with customers, suppliers, and transport companies as and when required in a professional way to ensure a smooth execution of all warehouse related activities.
  17. Ensure all warehousing activities are fully executed and administrated through our WMS system to capture all data and have it available to our customers and internal stake holders.
  18. Hosting customers and internal \+ external delegations on their visit to the warehouse to display and explain DP World Logistics warehousing capabilities.

Qualifications \& Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Strategy, Supply Chain, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Must have 8–10\+ years of experience in warehousing/logistics, with direct exposure to chemical or hazardous materials handling.
  • Must have experience with chemical storage requirements, including segregation, compatibility, and environmental controls.
  • Strong knowledge of dangerous goods regulations (IMDG, ADR, IATA where relevant).
  • Must have proven experience managing regulated warehouse environments (e.g., chemicals, pharma, oil \& gas logistics).
  • Demonstrated expertise in HSE management systems, risk assessments, and incident investigation.
