Job Overview:

The Head of Talent Management for Health \& Life Sciences (HLS) serves as a strategic leader in Talent Management, partnering closely with HLS Leadership to shape and execute talent strategies that directly align with organization’s overarching business goals. You will be responsible for the full scope of Talent Management related topics for the HLS Affiliated Consulting Group (ACG). By leveraging a holistic understanding of the business strategy, the Head of Talent Management will inform all facets of talent strategy—ensuring that the right talent is in place to achieve strategic objectives. This includes ensuring effective project staffing and capacity management to optimize resource utilization and development, fostering an inclusive workplace, helping create and maintain a culture of continuous learning and high performance, and driving implementation of global and regional initiatives. Additionally, you'll play a crucial part in capacity planning, recruiting, onboarding, and maintaining consultant engagement.

The Head of TM is a member of the HLS leadership team working day-to-day with Practice Leader and Talent Partner. They are also an active contributor to the OW Americas regional talent management agenda, ensure close collaboration with / integration of the HLS TM team into the regional/global TM function, and are responsible for the effective management of the HLS TM team.

This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in the office. There is no option to be fully remote.

Key Responsibilities:

Talent Management Leadership

  • Act as strategic Partner for HLS Leadership defining the HLS Talent Management agenda and priorities based on insights derived from the comprehensive understanding of business strategy and operational realities.
  • Utilize data and analytics to inform decision-making processes, ensuring that talent strategies are driven by robust insights
  • Collaborate with FP\&A and BIM teams to ensure alignment and integration of talent initiatives with financial and business objectives
  • Manage implementation of regional and global initiatives and processes with a focus on attracting and retaining talent that supports business growth
  • Supporting the Director of Talent Management by contributing to the solution of regional talent strategy issues, special projects and initiatives
  • Work with our global Inclusion, Diversity and Belonging team to implement programs and processes aimed at building and maintaining an inclusive workplace

Capacity management and deployment

  • Drive a strategic approach to capacity management and deployment, ensuring that staffing aligns with business goals
  • Ensure effective staffing of all HLS billable and non-billable needs, providing guidance to the team
  • Aim to resolve difficult staffing situations independently, escalate as needed to Director of TM and/or HLS leadership
  • Manage overall HLS ACG utilization

+ balancing utilization targets with investment in clients, franchises or talent development

+ strive to limit trapped capacity

+ Proactively raise and address anticipated capacity issues with practice leadership

  • Create visibility on utilization and availability as well as pipeline, sold roles, and consultant deployment, working with FP\&A and BIM to ensure reporting is accurate and enables decision making

Consultant Development and Performance Management

  • Foster a culture of proactive performance management through timely and high-quality activities, utilizing data-driven approach to talent assessment and development
  • Actively engage in the career review process; ensure performance concerns are actively managed and counsel-out process is initiated, if needed
  • Oversee the execution of the year-end calibration process, participate in regional cross-calibration
  • Coach, advice and counsel leadership and managers on challenging performance management issues and actions to take
  • Identify capability gaps across HLS ACG and collaborate with L\&D to help shape content of training offering
  • Monitor training KPIs, help increase commitment to learning within practice

Capacity Planning, Recruiting and Onboarding

  • Contribute to capacity planning by closely collaborating with practice leadership, Finance, BIM, and recruiting teams to ensure that hiring plans meet strategic organizational goals
  • Regularly utilize data analytics to assess hiring needs and influence hiring decisions in partnership with the leadership team
  • Develop and maintain an onboarding strategy for all new hires and ensure execution against it when joiners arrive

Consultant Engagement

  • Monitor and manage Consultant engagement, through formal and informal mechanisms, leveraging insights to enhance consultant experience and addressing any emerging issues
  • Implement strategies to ensure a supportive and compliant work environment, collaborating with Employee Relations on sensitive people issues to uphold a positive culture
  • Implement strategies to enhance OW balance and work with HLS leadership \& TM team to build sustainability for team members on HLS projects to increase employee satisfaction
  • Help build and maintain a strong community and an inclusive and positive environment
  • Proactively support firm-wide efforts to help maintain a highly engaged workforce
  • Contribute to and support development of programs designed to create strong commitment and participation in office events and virtual activities.

Team Management

  • Manage, coach and motivate the HLS Talent Management team, ensuring that team efforts are aligned with business objectives
  • Responsible for the smooth running, training and development of the team through daily interaction and oversight
  • Delegate duties above appropriately to ensure they are adequately stretched / challenged
  • Develop and maintain succession plans, and manage performance management and compensation

Experience Required:

  • Ideal candidates will have 10\+ years of relevant professional experience in a fast-paced and dynamic client services business environment. Management consulting and/or talent management experience preferred
  • Proven experience leading and developing a small team
  • Hands-on experience with capacity planning and utilization management to optimize deployment and resolve staffing constraints
  • Track record of designing and implementing talent programs
  • Proficiency with HR data and analytics tools to build reporting, drive insight-led decisions, and track TM KPIs
  • Experience balancing ever-changing work demands in a challenging environment with numerous stakeholders to satisfy

  • Proven ability to establish and grow relationships at all levels within an organization, with an emphasis on strategic business partnering
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data to drive change and inform talent strategies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to tailor the message to fit the audience
  • Credible, highly professional, able to communicate and negotiate effectively while managing diverse personalities, cultures and backgrounds
  • Self-motivated and proactive; someone who takes full ownership of her/his work and is flexible to prioritize or reprioritize as needed
  • Creative, proactive and adaptable with an ability to drive change and to develop individualized talent solutions
  • Ability to work fully independently, but also as part of highly collaborative team

The applicable base salary range for this role is $160,000 to $195,000\.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements . Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
