Position: Database Administrator (DB2 DBA
)
Location: Toronto, ON (Onsite).
Employment Type: Full-Time
Experience Required: 7 \+ Year
Role Summary:
We are looking for an experienced DB2 LUW DBA to manage, maintain, and optimize IBM DB2 databases on Linux/Unix/Windows platforms. The role involves ensuring high availability, performance, security, and reliable backup and recovery of critical database systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain DB2 LUW databases
- Manage instances, databases, tablespaces, and storage
- Perform performance tuning, SQL optimization, and troubleshooting
- Implement and manage backup, recovery, and PITR strategies
- Configure and support HADR for high availability and disaster recovery
- Monitor database health and resolve production issues
- Manage user access, roles, and database security
- Automate routine DBA tasks using scripting (Shell/Python/Perl)
Required Skills:
- Strong experience in IBM DB2 LUW administration
- Hands-on expertise in HADR, backup/recovery, and performance tuning
- Strong SQL and Linux/Unix knowledge
- Experience with DB2 tools (db2pd, db2top, EXPLAIN)
- 6–8\+ years of DBA experience
Preferred Skills:
- IBM DB2 certification
- Cloud experience (AWS/Azure)
- Exposure to Oracle or SQL Server
- Knowledge of automation/DevOps tools
Key Competencies:
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Ability to handle production environments
- Good communication and teamwork
