Virtual Chief Information Officer

Position Summary

The Virtual Chief Information Officer (vCIO) serves as a strategic technology advisor for our Managed Service Provider (MSP) clients in and around Iselin, NJ. The vCIO works closely with client leadership teams to align IT strategies with business objectives, ensuring technology is a driver for growth, innovation, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Planning \& Roadmapping

• Develop multi-year IT roadmaps tailored to client business needs.

• Lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) to evaluate progress and adapt strategies.

• Align technology initiatives with client goals, budgets, and timelines.

• Technology Leadership

• Provide CIO-level consulting services for clients without a dedicated CIO.

• Serve as a trusted advisor to executive teams on IT investments and priorities.

• Recommend emerging technologies to foster innovation and competitive advantage.

• IT Governance \& Risk Management

• Oversee IT policies, compliance, and security frameworks (HIPAA, GDPR, SOC2, etc.).

• Conduct technology alignment assessments to identify risks and improvement areas.

• Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

• Budgeting \& Vendor Management

• Design and manage client IT budgets ensuring cost-effectiveness and ROI.

• Negotiate with vendors and service providers on behalf of clients.

• Monitor vendor performance to meet SLA and business expectations.

• Cybersecurity Oversight

• Advise on security posture improvements and recommend tools for protection.

• Review and oversee implementation of backup, recovery, and endpoint security strategies.

Requirements

• Proven experience in IT leadership, preferably as a CIO, IT Director, or senior technical consultant.

• Strong understanding of MSP business models and managed services delivery.

• Expertise in cloud services, cybersecurity, compliance frameworks, and infrastructure management.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for business audiences.

• Strong vendor management and negotiation experience.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred).
