About The Role
We are seeking a motivated Junior Quality Assurance Automation Engineer to join our QA team and help strengthen our automated testing efforts. This role will work closely with our Senior Automation Engineer to support and expand our automation test suite built using Playwright.
The ideal candidate will have
2–4 years of experience in software testing
and a strong interest in growing their skills in test automation. They will collaborate with both onshore and offshore QA teams, participate in code reviews, and help maintain high testing standards across the organization.
In addition to contributing to automation, this role requires someone who is comfortable investigating failures and identifying root causes. The candidate should be able to review logs and traces, understand API responses, and use monitoring tools such as Datadog, Kibana, or Splunk to troubleshoot issues and support engineering teams.
Our application is actively developed, with new features continuously being introduced and existing functionality evolving based on customer feedback. As a Junior QA Automation Engineer, you will play an important role in ensuring that new features are tested effectively and that automated coverage continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
Automation Test Development:
- Collaborate with the Senior Automation Engineer to expand and maintain the Playwright automation test suite.
- Develop and improve end-to-end automated tests for critical product workflows.
- Identify manual test scenarios that should be automated to increase coverage.
- Participate in pull request reviews and follow established automation best practices.
- Help ensure automated tests run reliably within CI/CD pipelines.
Quality Assurance \& Testing:
- Execute functional, regression, and exploratory testing for new and existing features.
- Validate product releases to ensure critical workflows remain stable.
- Identify, document, and track defects with clear reproduction steps.
Failure Investigation \& Debugging:
- Investigate failing automated tests and identify root causes.
- Review application logs, traces, and monitoring tools to diagnose issues.
- Analyze API responses and backend behavior to ensure system integrity.
- Identify patterns and trends in recurring failures to improve overall test stability.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with engineers, product managers, and QA team members during development cycles.
- Collaborate with offshore QA engineers to maintain alignment on testing standards and processes.
- Participate in sprint ceremonies including standups, planning, and retrospectives.
Best Practices \& Learning:
- Follow and help reinforce QA and automation best practices.
- Contribute to improving test coverage and documentation.
- Continue developing technical skills in automation, testing strategies, and QA tools.
Requirements
- Minimum 2\+ years of experience in software quality assurance.
- Experience with automated testing tools or frameworks (Playwright is a plus).
- Basic knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript or another programming language used in test automation.
- Understanding of testing methodologies such as functional, regression, and end-to-end testing.
- Ability to read logs and traces to diagnose issues and test failures.
- Familiarity with Git and pull request workflows.
- Understanding of API responses and backend data validation.
- Experience using monitoring tools such as Datadog, Kibana, or Splunk is a plus.
- Experience working with Agile development teams.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with distributed teams.
Compensation
Compensation range for this role can vary widely depending on experience, and for this role an indicative range is $90-$115k \+ equity. Other benefits include:
