Reports To: Crew Leader or Operations Manager
Summary
Able to work safely with arc and gas welding processes by performing the duties as described herein. Fits and welds complex joints and welds with an emphasis on AWS joint geometry and welding symbols.
Manufactures weldments and sub-assemblies or related components using FCAW, GMAW or Aluminum processes. Has the skill and ability to translate a rough concept of an item into a finished component. Able to build assemblies from blue prints. Able to weld sub-assemblies in production as needed and assigned and able to fit and/or weld on jigs for all production requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Select and properly use safety equipment to complete the assigned task;
- Identify welding and cutting processes for each assigned project and then perform the process meeting all quality standards and manufacturing requirements;
- Prepare a joint and apply specific weld processes in accordance with the AWS welding symbol(s) called for in the drawing;
- Based upon the appropriate work instruction and weld process standard, the individual should be able to:
- Fit and weld on medium and/or large fabrications in a jig fixture;
- Weld on large fabrication projects in multiple positions that may include but not limited to overhead, flat, and/or horizontal;
- Understands blue-prints and weld symbols with the ability to build weldment from prints;
- Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding according to blue-prints;
- Properly sets up and adjusts welding machine and production-related equipment as needed;
- Assembles parts by bolting and riveting;
- Repairs parts by grinding, dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:-

- Must be able to follow company safety and quality control policies and procedures;
- Minimum of 3 years related experience and/or equivalent training;
- Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple memos and correspondence;
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals;
- Ability to read tape measure to the 1/16th of 1 inch;
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must obtain and work within the following AWS Welding Certifications
- FCAW - 3G - 1/8 to Unlimited
- GMAW - 3G - 1/8 to ¾
- GTAW - 1G - using steel, aluminum and stainless processes
- Aluminum - 1G - 1 inch
