This role is a high-impact consulting position focused on helping healthcare organizations strengthen compliance frameworks, reduce regulatory risk, and improve operational integrity across complex care environments. You will act as a trusted advisor to clients, guiding them through evolving healthcare regulations and supporting the development of robust compliance programs. The position combines hands-on advisory work, data-driven risk analysis, and strategic program development. You will work across diverse healthcare settings, including physician practices, hospitals, and outpatient services, bringing clarity and structure to regulatory challenges. The role involves close collaboration with client stakeholders to identify gaps, implement corrective actions, and enhance internal controls. It is well-suited for a professional who thrives in dynamic, client-facing environments and enjoys solving complex regulatory problems with practical solutions. Occasional travel (less than 10%) may be required.
Accountabilities
- Lead and support the design and enhancement of healthcare compliance programs, including policies, procedures, risk assessments, and annual workplans.
- Conduct compliance risk assessments, gap analyses, and operational reviews across clinical, billing, and revenue cycle functions.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on healthcare regulations, including CMS, OIG, HIPAA, and state-specific requirements.
- Support clients in audit preparation, audit response, and regulatory inquiry management.
- Analyze healthcare data to identify trends, anomalies, and potential compliance risks, and present actionable insights to stakeholders.
- Develop and deliver compliance training programs tailored to client needs and regulatory requirements.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of corrective action plans and ongoing compliance initiatives.
- Advise clients on HIPAA privacy, security practices, and breach response protocols.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve workflows, documentation practices, and internal controls.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and assess their impact on client operations.
- Contribute to client deliverables, reports, and presentations with clear, practical recommendations.
- Support business development efforts, including proposal development and solution design.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business, or a related field.
- 3-5\+ years of experience in healthcare compliance, consulting, practice administration, or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, including CMS, OIG guidelines, HIPAA, and payer requirements.
- One or more relevant certifications required (CHC, CHPC, or equivalent); coding/auditing certifications (AAPC/AHIMA such as CPC) are a plus.
- Experience across multiple care settings such as hospitals, physician practices, or outpatient services preferred.
- Hands-on experience with compliance program development, auditing, or regulatory investigations.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct independent regulatory research and translate findings into practical guidance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including client-facing presentations.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High professional judgment, integrity, and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with clients and internal teams.
