Job Description

As a Backend Engineer in the Recommendation Team, you will:

• Participate in the design and development of Shopee’s core backend recommendation systems, enabling fast iteration for product and business needs.
• Optimize performance of online serving engines, recall/ranking modules, and offline data pipelines.
• Contribute to building reusable system components and services, supporting Shopee’s centralized recommendation platform.
• Learn and research industry trends in recommendation and backend technologies, applying innovative ideas to real-world business challenges.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and computer systems.
• Solid coding ability, with proficiency in C\+\+/Golang/Python, and familiarity with Linux environments.
• Interest in distributed systems, high-concurrency architectures, and scalable backend design.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Self-driven, eager to learn, and motivated to work on challenging technical problems.
• (Preferred) Familiarity with backend frameworks, recommendation/search/ads systems, or large-scale data processing.
