About our client:
Our client is a leading systems integrator specializing in metals processing, scrap recycling, and industrial automation. We design and deliver custom-engineered solutions for material recovery, dust collection, and waste management. Our team works across industries to solve complex mechanical and industrial challenges with innovative system designs.
Position Summary:
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing mechanical systems and components for custom recycling and processing equipment. This role is hands-on and requires strong expertise in mechanical design, fabrication, and system integration, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design custom mechanical systems using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Vault.
- Develop detailed fabrication and assembly drawings, BOMs, and layout plans.
- Collaborate with sales, electrical, and project teams to meet performance, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Provide engineering support during fabrication, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Analyze and improve mechanical performance, safety, and durability of equipment.
- Perform field assessments, gather measurements, and develop retrofit or upgrade plans.
- Work with vendors and fabricators to specify materials, components, and processes.
- Support site acceptance testing (SAT), FAT, and commissioning documentation.
- Adhere to client quality and safety standards in all engineering activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- 5\+ years of mechanical design or industrial equipment experience (recycling, manufacturing, or heavy industry preferred).
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Vault.
- Strong understanding of mechanical fabrication, hydraulics, pneumatics, and material flow systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and schematics.
- Familiarity with ANSI/NFPA standards and OSHA safety requirements.
- Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites for installation, commissioning, and support.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with dust collection systems, shredders, separators, conveyors, or other material handling equipment.
- Understanding of PLC/HMI-controlled systems and mechanical–electrical integration.
- Hands-on experience with equipment troubleshooting or field service support.
